Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

You can get quite far up with either jumponium or fleet carriers.
I guess the sad cave commando will dream of that many more years.
"Boohooohooo, but ED doesn't have caves."
I know, I don't have jumponium either, but I could ask to hop on a carrier going out without even having to grind one. And I visited lots of rings. Does Crash Citizen have rings? Not counting the ones under the sad eyes of the gullibers, though.
"Unfair. Mean. I'm telling! There is more biomes in Nollock Citizens than hair on your head."
Maybe, but I think the persistent trash littering the floors isn't really "biomes".

The best thing about SC hitting the news again, is all the unverifiable gossip in the comments :)

I'm not a game developer by trade, but I worked for Star Citizen from 2013-2015 and let me tell you, it's exactly as much of a crapshow there as you think it is. Decisions are made on whims, cronyism is rampant, and no one can keep a schedule even day to day, let alone a years-long development and release plan. They paid me a lot and I loved the food (thanks, Kickstarter supporters!), but it's never going to be the game we were promised.

Knew a designer who keeps bouncing back and forth between the project. Says he loves the idea but can't stand the owner. Shame

The problem is that Chris Roberts never learns from his mistakes. He's never released a game outside of the confines of Origin Systems, where he had bosses who could step in and fix things. My tabletop game group (pre Covid) had four Origin vets in it, and their commentary on Roberts was scathing. Other Origin vets backed this view up. And the guy ran his last game company into the ground. Digital Anvil was a disaster. Roberts was always an incompetent project manager and isn't as visionary as his ego would pronounce. His first order of business has always been to pump up Roberts. Twelve years to not get out a third of a single player game that was promised in 2014? Yup, Roberts prime.

Now the marketing side of Star Citizen is really interesting, and should keep university business classes busy for a long time.

If this TLDR of ISC is correct, Tony Z's wonderland just got further away...
That just a glitch in the quanta probability volume.

Remember - they had a fully simulated Verse with millions of human-indistinguishable AI entities generating trade routes and market variation and mission generation, back in 2016 or so. They even had screenshots!

If you understood anything about game development, it would be obvious that was before development even started! It was all already working, and I know this because someone at CI-G said so.

If you buy an Idris, perhaps this will become clearer?
