Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Open letter hype

Gotta respect the first responder (pun intended): "Ok -here's my feedback in regards to this dumpster fire: Opening a sale when people cannot even play the game is tone deaf to your audience and customer base. Not providing hourly updates at this point in the outage looks like you guys are actively trying to not tell us how bad everything really is. CIG insisted this would all be avoided an mitigated with more PTU testing....this is not the case. CIG, you are not telling us what the company intends to do to make players whole; instead leaning on this is an alpha as a cop out. 3.18 was in PTU since December. This is now March. There isn't an excuse for this; and the lack of active communication is going to kill your player base."

Although, perhaps: ...leaning on this is an alpha is a cop out, and has been since 2015. The year it got stale.

Have they gone yet?...Is it safe to come back out after the invasion of the physics grid nerds?

Weirdest passive-aggressive debate ever...it was like guiltily peeking at nuns fighting over the wall of a convent

Haha, you corporate fool/shill. I only ever stay at the very best privately run places, where your money goes five times further. They're run by Completely Independent Guesthouses, and I've been supporting them for the last ten years, and their artists' impressions of what's to come are amazing. I'm really looking forward to staying in them. Some day.

Sadly, at the moment, all they have is a rickety caravan in the middle of a largely idle building site that's full of pot-holes, but they've promised us that it's going to the best ever resort once the mesh they're using to insulate the sauna is delivered. For reasons too complicated for people who aren't builders to understand, Sauna Meshing is key to getting a second caravan going.

And it'll be the best damp sizzling sauna ever. They said so.
I walk pass similar establishments all the time, but they're run by Cottage Industry Guesthouses. I wonder if they're a csister company under the same umbrella?
Looks impressive on teh outside, but I've never been inside or seen anyone working.

I think they're all under Cayman Islands Greedo inc.

Or Really Shameless Individuals (unlimited). Not sure.

They all look like shill shell companies now I stop to look.

Cant recall much passive-aggressiveness in either side, but debate yes. Fully understand we do not need a flooding of it though. 😋

"As players have to buy those ships when the PTU becomes PU for real money (as ships can't be bought in game at that point of time), many player might wait until the "major" LIVE bugs are fixed for this new feature (in 3.18s case: salvaging)."

I saw Little Ant asked once, maybe a few pages back 'how SC is a scam?' The above should explain why its a scam. Considering the idea was you pay $45 for the whole game, and Chris Roberts himself said the game is fully funded and they didn't need anymore more money to finish the game. There is no reason to charge real money for a ship even if its part of a feature newly implemented. Whatever feature CIG decided to add should already be part of the design document and taken into account in the budget when he declared the game flly funded.

The thing is still in Early Access/Alpha/development, they're getting poeple to pay to test each feature? How is that not a scam?

Star Citizen is in alpha. It's also in early access. The two aren't mutually exclusive.
The thing with alpha is that is a term everyone has a definition for, especially when you add in a crowdfunded tag. Even Chris Roberts own alpha definition does not match what we have today in the PU (we are very far from having all the functionality/features in). Whereas Early Access has some very specific consequences, namely the fact the product is formally released (just with a warning of being in a crappy state) with everything that a release entails including zero guarantees or obligations by the dev to improve the product, or zero rights to refunds other than the statutory 2 or 3 weeks many jurisdictions usually contemplate etc. Because the product is released, Early Access also often lead to game press reviews and even scores. Early Access is not crowdfunding, or pre orders, and sales are also no different than regular sales, they are subject to taxes and the developers/publishers can just use any profits for dividends or to do whatever they please with them, re invest them in the game or not.

Managed to log in again today...mucho inventory/ship paint shenanigans and ASOP terminals still not working. Seemingly, I still have too many ships or something. It doesn't help when the broken game keeps duplicating the ships I have of course. Three Redeemers and a few other bits and bobs, none of which I can recall from the blank terminals 🤷‍♂️

I swear that's why Petite Fourmi posts in here... ... 🤷‍♂️
Yup. I try not to feed the little 'droll'. There's no point, and at the back of my mind is that you never really know the other person's reality, and it is always possible that 'spectrum (no pun intended) issues' could be involved.

Besides that, as wiser heads that mine once said, if there is nothing good to say about someone, "...I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure..."
