Seriously, what's the point in open play?

In which case others need to learn to accept that no-one needs to play with them while affecting mode shared game features, and stop complaining about that too. ;)

They have. Open only proposals are at least workable solutions though & nobody is suggesting other modes be removed, only that inf no longer apply in those modes (I am not an open only advocate but I am able to see that it is an implementable albeit disruptive proposal).

The OP has their answer, this dumpster fire of a thread should be closed imo.

As workable as OpenPVE ;) With blocking the trolls.

All those "problems" in PVE mode are caused by scenarios "lets think how somebody try to troll the system". Simple solution block the trolls. There is limited number of them in viable instancing anyways.

Only if one consciously ignores the sporadic Open only posts, or posts seeking PvP features that can't be affected in modes other than Open....

Just because something could (as far as we can tell, lacking knowledge of how the game actually works in terms of tracking all player activities) be done does not mean that it should - even if it would suit one side of this debate.

It might seem surprising but I would say many players if not the majority, do actually apply some kind of criterion to the ships they attack, and would leave the harmless rank players in beginner ships alone.

The problem with powerplay is that the ship/rank doesn't say if a pledged enemy CMDR is holding merits or not... when pirating, even small ships like Cobra Mk3 can bring valuable cargo, so it's very depending on what we do find on the ship (how many tons?) and the CMDR behaviour (tries to run? engage? etc).

No cargo = no problem "o7 fly safe"
Cargo? "please, gimme some... like 5t, 10t etc." "no?" "I'll take it, then"

Random encounters are random encounters... but I can say that if I see a clean / no faction random CMDR in a random system, I am not going to engage such CMDR unless >competent and in a combat ship/KWS equipped (that means = bounty hunter, and Delaine doesn't like them).

NPC's are part of environment, and bots without free will. Should YOU act like a bot?

Edit, though it would be nice to see if they used some consideration, like "I'm flying unengineered Python, should I REALLY take that G5 Cutter, it will likely obliterate me fast. Without losing single ring of shields..."

Indeed :D but that for saying that if we do see haulers and we're out with piracy ship, we'll try to rob the CMDR for sure.
