No Single Player offline Mode then?

The best course of action imo.

1. Launch and work on the game as much as you can.
2. Promise a separate single player game derived from ED with an API and tools for full modding support. Lets even pay for this separately.
3. Bring back total seamlessness, the stardreamer and FE2 flight model to it. All three were after all compromised mainly due to networking/MP reasons.

I'm dreaming of course, but they can do it if they wanted to..XD

Short but says all...In the Review of the Games THEY will write..."Wonderfull Game in a Living Galaxy, and as you be allways online all action effects all other, not depending if they Play Open/Group/Solo.But to fullfil that you must play allways online. Offline will be canceled in the Minute due Problems by generating this Wonderfull for Offline Players." .... and this sentence will kill the Game, for all which don´t like online. And even if you don´t believe ... there are still Player which read REAL Game-Magazins, and that people will than maybe never buy....

So people will be properly informed that ED sadly won't have offline mode anymore. That's problem because...?

honestly it's just wrong, you lot have been playing / enjoying this game for weeks and months and now you want your money back and Frontier deserve derision ... you should all be ashamed of yourselves IMO

No, we should not be ashamed. Because we were testing the betas, not playing the full game. And now we're told that the game will not have the feature that was very important to many of us, and worse, we are told about that now, a month before the release. It's FD should be ashamed of themselves, because what they've done is not a honest and polite way to communicate with the customers and supporters.

Hmm... this thread is now seemingly turning into the "Dead Parrot Sketch".

This off-line feature is dead.
No it's not, it's just pining for the developers. Beautiful ships!

Sorry, it's been stated by Michael that it would be completely impractical to build an off-line version as it would effectively be a separate game build mostly from scratch and Frontier don't have the time, money or man power to do it. Wishing this away isn't going to help.

Now, we need to grieve and move on, but not lose track of the fact that Frontier made a complete mess of this.

EA said exactly the same about Simcity (another game that, like its predecessors, didn't need to be online) and, surprise, got an offline mode after the resulting outrage.

We don't need to grieve and move on, we need to show Frontier that they've made a wrong decision and that they can still fix it.

Bots
Hackers
RMTers

Ooh hell yes. I forgot about those aspects of MMOs. I played Elder Scrolls online and the stuff going on there was crazy. Such a shame. Bots working on resource nodes was a major problem, at least it was up to when I left to be an Alpha/Beta tester for ED.

I like your post, except for this:

"Let's even pay for this separatey."

Let's not. I already paid for it.

I wrote before ... Only with a few (even when it 50.000) Multiplayer you will never get enough support for Expansions and Maintance....you need also NEW Player, and this missing offline will stop many of Buying this wonderful Game....

I don't care. Ask for a refund, and pay when it comes out...also, you did not pay for non instanced gameplay, the stardreamer or a FE2 flight model...:p

I'm normally not enthusiastic about moderator intervention, but in this case - and I can hardly believe I'm saying this - perhaps a 1 hour shutdown would help.

Honestly, I would never have backed this game, had I know at the time it was going to be online only.
I had the impression this was going to be the game that rejuvenated the PC gaming industry.
I felt I shared the same dream as the team, to get away from the dross that's been on offer for the past twenty years.
Silly me.. live and learn, I'll never get behind another kick-starter, ever...

*wakes up* ... Oh gods. The threadnaught hasn't slowed down during my nap. It's still rolling at speed. Class 263 now. I'm not sure this one can be stopped anymore, it's self aware, fuelled by people from all angles, what have we done?!?! We've created a monster. BRAAAAAAAAAAAAABBBBBEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

Because people weren't properly informed in the first place. All this hassle would have been averted, or at least much reduced, if the issue had been communicated earlier and better.

There are 140k backers of ED now, around 100k beta testers if I am precise. As you would figure out, almost all of them play online modes. Now, please, tell me, how many people won't buy this game only because it's not offline?

As I said, overstating your power in case of grievance to threaten game - no really way to pressure devs to rethink or give some ideas about future.

So its not wrong to drop a 3rd of the game? Yes we have been playing for weeks and months WAITING FOR THE SOLO GAME WE WERE PROMISED WHEN BUYING THE PRODUCT.

I do not care that "things have changed" since if you implement things that breaks promised features you need better project management and need to re-design the product (if I promise you a car and deliver a bike you might be slightly miffed at my explanation that things changed along the way but this is the means of transport I wanted you to have, no?).

There is not much to say really, deliver the promised product or refund the buyers of your product if they want their money back.

(Personaly I have excellent internet and will be playing the solo "online" version, because the potential for griefing in the open gameplay makes it a joke, but I firmly belive in keeping your promises and I want to support the customers that now will apparently recieve something else then they bought. They have a right to be upset, the company has screwed up on this by allowing background system becoming so bloated that they cant manage to do a solo version of the game).

i just did that 1 hour ago. still waiting for a response.

if by next week i still not got my FULL 60 euros refund ill' take on my local consumer agency :)

I'd give them a few days, yeah. At least. They'll have a backlog right now. I was probably one of the first to ask about their policy, no reply yet - as maybe they haven't decided. Weekend and all...

I still think the more important issue here is whats next. They have already stated no offline play and I feel they should offer refunds to anyone effected by this. I really hope FD outline any other changes sooner rather than later that may effect our wallets or our game play experience.

Well, if like me, you are massively disappointed but can still play solo... You have to assume nothing else will be next.
