Alright, let's get serious about birds...

Another thing about birds...there's also talk about the "missing" marine animals. Which I understand but hold out hope for a Planet Aquarium. Many zoos do not have much if any completely aquatic life. There's separate businesses for aquariums that specialize in that and having a separate game for that is understandable. Meanwhile, having a fully aviary type of facility is not that common. I can't see having a completely separate game for it. So it's like...if they don't make it into Planet Zoo, they just don't get represented at all (or very little)
Total side note here, but a separate aquarium game is probably the only thing I could ever be truely disappointed with Frontier for 😂
Eventhough what you said is totally true and reasonable, I just think fish are missing so badly from this game and seeing another game be put out would feel like they rip apart what could have been one idk 🥲

Im just thinking about all the semi aquatic animals we have now and how those would then either be missing from planet aquarium which would limit it oooor we’d have to pay for them twice basically 😅

Not to mention all the build pieces we’d miss out on in planet Aquarium 🫠

It could cost the same as a main title too, I wouldn’t care as long as it’s connected to PZ 🙈

Dang, y'all. I applied at the Houston Zoo a few years ago. Never got anything back from them.

Now I'm a window washer and power washer 🤣...
But it's not all bad. We have clients all over Houston (all over Texas, actually), and since we're outside most of the time, I get to see animals and smell the gardens that the clients have

My attitude towards marine animals has always been they deserve the respect to have their own game.
Aquariums require their unique infrastructure, habitat layout, and guest experiences. No DLC in the current format could sufficiently supply all that.
Do we really think 4-7 habitat aquatic animals, and if they go the butterfly route, 5 fish in a tank could suffice the world of marine biodiversity?
I'm fine with and would love another semi-aquatic pack - walrus, pelicans, turtles, another otter and penguin, etc, but your iconic aquarium life - dolphins, sharks, stingrays, manatees, octopuses, it just doesn't seem feasible.
Birds, on the other hand, we just need more of them!

OMG I'm a tour guide too at the Bronx! All the dads marvel at my HILARIOUS jokes when we get to the snowy owls!
"Uh oh, I think someone got a letter to Hogwarts!"
Standing ovation, every time.
Omg the Bronx is such a cool zoo!! I thought I had a cool job but now I’m still jealous hahaha
Say hi to the bisons for me, I’ve never seen them before (from Europe haha) and fell in love with them there 💛

I'll be sure to give Bighead (our breeding bull - the name doesn't do him justice) a big wave for ya!

I’m honestly so here for chickens!
There are some beautiful chicken breeds that I know we won’t get but hey, thats what mods are for haha
would be nice to have one official one from frontier regardless though!

Just look at the Swedish Flower Hen, they come in so many cool colors and patterns 🥰
But I think the Plymouth Rock Chicken would be really cool too, their common striped pattern is really beautiful but they also come in other colors
(Can’t post pictures because I’m on mobile and half asleep haha)

This is of course by no means saying no to tropical birds, my pfp and favorite animal is a toucan after all :D I want them all I’m not picky 🥰🥰
If we talking beautiful and cool there is only showgirl silkies

Same frontier team in 2013 released zoo game with 5 macaw species, while having to met xbox360 limitations and working on computers from 2006.
Years later different studio developed DLC for that game with cockatoos, falcons and owls.

All this on mini-exhibits, which work literally like walktrough ones. Bird flying on looped animations lol. Absolutely no difference between macaws from 2013 and bats from 2022. We are even getting three-toed sloth, which was originally mini-exhibit species in their first zoo game. I bet its going to work exactly the same, but with more animations.

At this point i think frontier simply hate birds (and monkeys).

I know this is going to annoy some of the community here and I'm sorry for that. But we're simply going to have to be more vocal about the need for more birds, even if it's just habitat appropriate birds. Same with New World Monkeys, but that's not the subject of this thread.

It's going to be hard enough to imagine my zoo never getting Eagles, Toucans, Macaws, Cockatoos and Hornbills (the main groups of more flying oriented birds I'd like to see in exhibit form). Not having animals like the Shoebill, Secretary Bird, and Swan really makes me sad. I'm not worried too much about the Kiwi, since Frontier has shown a willingness to include birds that are incapable to flight IRL.

I'm not totally discounting that Red Crowned Cranes, Peafowl and Flamingos can fly, but the last two are fairly staple zoo inclusions and that's a big part of why they were in the base game, I'm sure. The addition of the Red Crowned Crane, without any more additions to the idea of flight-restricted habit birds thus far, is absolutely baffling. I had hope for more birds after they were included and we've literally gotten one bird in the meantime, and it's a ratite, so it's in the same vein as the Ostrich and Cassowary.

I'm fine with y'all being vocal for birds.
What I don't want is rude or demeaning comments, and there are people around (not here specifically, but in general) that are rude and hostile about the subject.

I don't mind criticisms as long as they're civil

For sure. People that don't want anymore birds, that's their right. Many of us think they're needed, it's all just a different of opinion. Neither is right or wrong. I'm not even sure if we're the majority or just a vocal minority, but either way, to progress with the possibility of more birds, we'll have to be one or the other.

Even if we wont ever get aviary birds, which i firmly believe we will get eventually, why else would they have added bats, i really want to get more ground dwelling birds. Honestly the Tropical pack was a huge opportunity to add a shoebill, ibis or even a tropical pheseant or duck and im sad it didnt happen, but im hopefull well get there eventually

I also kind of think new pack announcements are not really the place to voice that demand… it seems a bit thankless I guess? Specifically the people that are very vocal when threating to not buy something… all storms and assumed drops in sales do is decrease the likelihood for 2025 support… it’s of course tricky because I do think feedback is important but yeah… idk. Just a thought

But I’ll be getting my birds wishlist done next week I think haha

Might also be helpful to have a wishlist that is not separated by habitat/bird/aquatic/exhibit to show the overall demand? I’m sure some people would choose differently when all is combined into one list? I know I would

I agree. Whenever I see comments like: "new pack that the team worked in but no birds?", I feel like, c'mon. Let's just enjoy what we got. Praise the pack for what it brought, don't hate it because it doesn't have what you like

At first i tought they would save birds for a sequel, but now with the long success of the game and the new exhibits for bats and butterflies, i think they are building a solid base for a full bird expansion. So in my opinion birds will come to the game, just have patience, Frontier knows that birds=money 😉

Ikr!

Im saying big expansions like Zoo Tycoon that cost 20+ € and bring closer to what Zoo Tycoon packs brought would do birds and aquatics better justice then a regular DLC

Even if it was 5 iconic habitat + 10 Exhibit, that would bring us a lot closer to realistic zoos!

I'll guarantee you even with 10 birds we are nowhere near the amount to correctly portraying a real zoo. The average recreation i build has no less than 40 species of workshop sourced static birds, yeah it's a step but we need multiple animal packs worth of small birds alone to consider real zoo collections

It may not be enough for real world comparisons, but if we ever got 10 exhibit flying birds, I'll never ask for anything from this company again.

True of course, but 10 birds are still 10 birds closer and 10 rigs/animations for modders closer to having birds then not ever getting any at all because it would be to expensive to produce/ sold at a price that is too high to sell to a wide audience… and would still be more then through a regular DLC ☺️
