Update 15, the Upcoming Feature Rework and More

For when credits mattered look at FFE and maybe beta ED, anything after that credits became meaningless as you could make millions just from moving packages.
One of the things that frustrates me with this is all the vestigial interfaces from those glorious days. If you drill down in the menus, you see there are options to repair only specific things, or only load a specific amount of ammo, or select the amount of fuel you want to buy. It's actually a pretty detailed system from a short era when a struggling pilot might not have enough cash to fully fix and fuel their ship, so they had to pick and choose what they wanted to repair to keep flying until the next paycheck. Now there's a giant "FIX EVERYTHING" button in my face, because why wouldn't there be with this ridiculous current-day market? Oprah, meet Elite.

ED reminds me of a city like Jerusalem where there are modern bits connected to ancient bits, and as you dig down, you see the history of the vision of what Elite once was and could have been. This is why I'm a proponent of Frontier just starting from scratch and releasing Elite: Reborn or whatever the next title is. Ancient cities like Jerusalem have character and history, but when it comes to video games, I'd much rather have Dubai. Not that I would like this new city game, based on the direction they've been going, but at least it would be "that" game rather than a hodgepodge of visions from a dozen managers / lead programmers come and gone over the years.

Im looking at x4 now [...]

If you’re frustrated, think about how those of us who played during that era feel. Docking fees (when they existed) used to be proportional to the value of the ship, so there was an actual economic niche for “C” and “E” rated modules. If it wasn’t for this game’s flight model, Stellar Forge, and VR, I would’ve abandoned this game…

Ah, yes. When interdicting a target with your Python would cause more damage to your ship than the highest bounty paid. 😁

Imho ship combat (and outfitting) was best shortly before Engineers were added.

The glory days when credits were hard to come by and felt earned, cold builds had a reason and the hold was full of fish.

My first reaction was, "That doesn't make sense!" But then I gave it some thought, and it actually DOES make sense in a realistic setting. After all, the Python should be a posh, top-of-the-line ship in the medium size range. You might call it the "end-game" ship of the medium size, at least back then. Using it to bounty hunt would be like hauling firewood in your fancy Class A RV rather than a pickup truck. A Cobra or Viper would be the more appropriate "vehicle" to hunt for the average bounty. Though there should be a few really notorious pirates where using a Python is both necessary and rewarding. Again, talking "old" ED, not today's ED.

Keep pushing the halfhearted PJs and follow their own agenda, and they'll have accomplished both.
After all these years, the community has been very clear about what we wanted, Fdev was fine to ignore most/all of it, and release what they thought was best for the game.

Depending on how Starfield will do, ED might be down a few more players.
X4 is releasing a new DLC and are happy and excited to show what is coming, what they are working on.(Fdev, watch, learn and do the same!).

Also today NMS just started the new update, a simple update but it has more content than everything Elite Dangerous has added in 4 years!

Ironic, when game was much more deeper, when progression was difficult, and credits were real trouble, to level, where you had to think, which module repair now :D

I know. Already updated mine, looking forward to test it later tonight.
Also loved their odyssey campaign to restore a system. Could only craft in base, etc. But once you figured out how, it got really awesome. Once finished, the save game resumed normally and if you had other stuff, like a main account, then you could join your carrier there again.

I'm amazed at the free, big updates for NMS versus ED's months of content drought.

NMS seems childish at first, I've had the same impression, but you'll get really into it. I was hesitant as well. 200h later I have no regrets.

And yet you guys are here on Elite forums instead of playing NMS or posting on their forums

I really dont like the cartoonish graphics that look like Spore and CandyCrush had a baby nor the flight model (joking - i know it doesnt have any) and... well there are many things i dont like from NMS, yet i dont go on their forums to complain about it... weird, isn't it?

Is it time for my "NMS is a completely different game, nay, genre" chant or my favorite "doing away with the tediousness of space flight" quote?

I don't think there actually IS a NMS forum, not one hosted by Hello Games anyway. So, no, not weird.

Do you complain about the people in the SC thread on here talking about that alpha?
