Still server issues, every 5 minutes? Really?

Played the game last time a few months ago and stopped because of server disconnects every couple minutes, mauve adder and what not.

Gave it now another try. Same crap, I barely can play 5 minutes until game kicks me out of the game due to server issues (in SOLO mode even!)

Is this really the best they can do? Can't even handle one interaction per player every few minutes?

Unplayable SCAM game.

This 100% has to do with your connection. Jiggle the cord. Upgrade to 56k. Dust off the modem. Seriously. Because most of us experience zero connection errors.

My only disconnections are for scheduled server maintenance, and I often play on wifi. It might be where you are located or your network... not sure. It has nothing to do with ED though.

No disconnections here either, but excessive server lag when transitioning instances like glide mode or exiting SC at a station.
And the system map takes like 10-20 seconds to load little images during which you can't close it, it takes only 2 seconds to select a target in there, so you have to waste 8-18 seconds sitting there waiting for it to close. It's like that every single time you open the system map, they never heard about caching and multi-threading I guess.

Bank Holiday weekend in the UK. I'm just sat here watching a 4k youtube video right now & getting buffering.

You could Try switching off your router, wait for 10-30 minutes to let the old IP time out & try again to see if you can connect to a different/better route 🤷‍♂️

Try IPv6 instead of IPv4 if your DSL does support that of course. Sometimes helps a lot with unstable connections when using the native IPv6 address.

Ymmv though

no it has not. my internet is perfectly fine, I have network monitor running along with ping and traceroutes to several servers, no problems in other games.

there are literally thousands of search results when I lookup those errors, please don't act like this is nothing known and stop being a douchebag giving tips with "56k"

Then how do you explain why none of us seem to be constantly disconnected? Like, does Frontier just prefer us to you? Did they target you for the scam, but not anyone else?

Of course. And lots of them are client-side errors or errors linked to a specific incident. And every online game ever has thousands of threads complaining about connection issues.

I didn't. I'm saying the issue is likely with your connection.

It's just a joke, bud. You don't have to take it personally.

I don't know what you do in the game. Maybe you're not near the starting area, maybe not jumping around a lot. There could be plenty of reasons. I don't know how the game internals work, but disconnect players due to "matchmaking service" in solo play, and not using TCP for critical necessary data that otherwise kicks you from the game with cryptic error messages - no wonder.

As I said, I could rule out the "my connection" part.

This is literally the first search result for mauve adder:

Mauve Adder is a connection error code given when the game cannot place you in an instance, and is usually a local network issue.

I don't know what to tell you. Check hardware. Use ipconfig. Ping and tracert. DNS check. Yell at your provider. Whatever you need to do.

As for not getting disconnected because maybe I don't move around, I made 118 jumps back to the bubble from Cat's Paw last night. No issues.

Thousands of players playing the game every day without issues that large indeed suggests a local problem. Other games work fine because networking works differently in ED; instead of a server-client architecture, most of it is peer-to-peer, and there are certain challenges that come with that, mostly with it relying on incoming connections as well as outgoing. There are a few different "real" server types you need to be able to connect to, for example the mission servers and the matchmaking server, which still needs to place you in an instance even if you play solo. Solo is really "multiplayer without other players" than single player, the modes are essentially matchmaking filters.

Two things that spring to mind: Does your ISP do CG NAT, or do you use any (I would call them snake oil) software products to "increase" network security?
