Newcomer / Intro Redeployment location?

I'm basing myself to an extent in 'Bondar Gateway' in Kareldt while trying toi learn a few things. This is where my ship - free Sidewinder - is located. If I get killed in a mission, I keep being redeployed to 'The Armoured Saint' a very remote location.
Can someone explain why that is? I was under the impression that the redeploy location was where you last docked as long as it has a shipyard. Well, Bondar Gateway has a shipyard and that is where my ship was based, yet I always seem to get located in 'The Armoured Saint'.
I guess there is some fundamental thing I'm missing here!

I think 'The Armoured Saint' is a prison ship. Were you blown up by police ships/doing something illegal? If you have a bounty placed on you, you may get attacked by police ships until you pay it off. If they blow you up you wake up on a prison ship.

PS if this is new to you, you can check any outstanding bounties against you in the left panel, in the Transactions tab. This will show both the bounties you have earned and can hand in (for blowing up "Wanted" ships), and any that have been issued against you for performing naughtinesses.

It's not unusual to gain a bounty in Elite, even if you are trying to be very very good. A few stray shots that hit police ships rather than the pirate you're fighting can be enough...

I usually just jump to any nearby system with an Interstellar Factor and pay off the bounty.

Thanks guys. It happens when I get killed by security guards when I'm on a procurement mission.

If you perform ANY illegal actions in a settlement, and get seen doing it, and then also die there, you end up at a detention facility...and many of them are a ways off from where you were...

If your ship is also there when you die on foot, it "should" go the detention facility with you...though there may be some caveats around that.

From that location yes but if you do that in another system it might have a contract with a different detention centre in which case you will be shipped to that one.

Note that failing the procurement mission isn’t necessarily part of the reason you are being sent there but being killed by security for doing something to upset them is.
