Possibly a Stupid Question...How Are the Basket Ferns Supposed to Look?

They seem to be mis-angled when I select them. I can't figure out how they're supposed to look when I use them, but I really want to.

I was having trouble with that and the pitcher plant in my babirusa habitat. Maybe they're supposed to be planted in a pot/planter? Idk. I've also been having trouble with designing buildings with the Indonesian theme. The thatched roofs are difficult to work with in my opinion. I'm trying to match the building style in the blueprints as well as I can, but I don't really have confidence in what I've made.

Basket ferns are epiphytes - plants that grow on other plants - so they're meant to be placed upon trees or other vertical structures. When you select them they're lying on their side, but if you turn on "Align to Surface" and have "Random Rotation" off (because otherwise they'll be at all sorts of random angles) they should automatically be upright whenever you place them on a vertical surface. For some in-game examples, here's how I've been using them to decorate builds in my current project - I'm not super familiar with basket ferns IRL so I don't know if them growing off buildings and fences like this is 100% realistic, but it does look neat:

Just for comparison, here's a real one:

I thought so, but wasn't entirely sure. Nice builds, by the way. This just reminds me that we should get some half-size hanging baskets for these ferns and some of the smaller plants

Ah thank you. That makes sense.
