Newcomer / Intro Being interdicted a lot more in my exploration-outfitted DBX than in my combat-outfitted Type-10

Not complaining, since it's a lot easier to escape interdiction in a nimbler ship, but I am curious as to why.

The DBX has no weapons and a tiny 4t cargo hold that is almost always empty. My Type-10 is a hulking brute that has 128t of cargo space while being armed to the teeth. Yesterday and the day before I was ferrying around a bunch of data for Sirius Corp, and then hauling Modular Terminals to get access to Marco Qwent, but I wasn't interdicted once while carrying these. Even though I was having to make multiple trips in my DBX. Yet as soon as I dropped those items off, I got interdicted more times in the past two days than I have in the past week when I was flying my Type-10 and spanking pirates. I'm not pledged to a Power.

Are pirates more intimidated by a large and heavily armed ship? Do they see an unarmed DBX as easy pickings? Has there been any in-depth study as what influences the frequency of pirate interdictions?

I would say not really; I almost never see interdictions when I return to a bounty-hunting arena in a lightweight travel vessel with twenty incomplete missions, however those pirates have no problem attempting it during the few light-seconds between Carrier and RES while I am in a quite fast Mamba which can remove them in 10–15 seconds.

Seldom do I deal with cargo, with the quite notable exception of carrying Research samples back from a Thargoid war system. Despite the cargo being corrosive, if our harvest Carrier is close enough to a populated system then I see pirate messages during Supercruise probably between a third and a half of the time. The vessel is also an Imperial Cutter with class 8 Prismatic shield, which they have no hope of affecting in any appreciable way.

Ahhh... well, as demonstrated in one of our recent videos NPC pirates are total dumb moles.

But... it also depends on what you're carrying: if you have 1t of scrap in your siday you get interdicted, if you're in an empty T9 it does rarely happen.

They do interdict even other pirates (like me) with stolen stuff on board... 🤷‍♂️

I've noticed that every time I leave a settlement, and it shows red on the radar, I get an NPC interdiction attempt. This was extremely rare before patch 15. Maybe they tweaked the settings a little.
