Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I always understood that 'star citizen' was an online marketing venture selling the never-never land idea of a space game via the selling of digital assets. :)

And if you don't buy enough assets to fulfill the Vision, then the games will never release and it will all be the backers fault for not understanding game development and failing to provide enough funds for Genuine Roberts to save PC gaming.

May the Bunnyman visit them in their dreams.

I've bought enough jpegs to fill my desire for shiny as well as fulfilling the dream of the mythical space game, not bought any new jpegs or ships for years except by shuffling zero dollar store credit...which many of us do. There are always new buyers of course, but unless the charts are showing purchases via store credit or via zero dollar CCU's, there's not near enough and not spending enough to produce those massive spikes in any realistic marketing charts.

The apparent leap in sales figures shown on the ridiculous 'funding tracker' at every sales event is purely marketing manufactured...it induces a customer FOMO spend mentality is all. ...

Marketing 101 🤷‍♂️

Mainly, people throw money to CIG because SC is fun to play and each patch there is some delivery. The non-delivery thing is in your dreams. Perhaps one day you'll understood it 😅
Except we have not much evidence that is the case. Unless you want to trust a non audited funds "tracker" that comes from the seller himself, or a non audited financial blog that is missing key financial elements and does not even fit with any regular financial statement structures out there.

On the other hand, SC´s monetization systems and grey market make it very easy prey of money laundering, and I would not be very surprised, given CIG´s ethics and multiple shell companies, if they entertained round tripping ideas.

Do you remember the 90 days top ? Still waiting for the funding to crash because everyone will realise 'soon' there is nothing to do in SC and that the bugs prevent any correct game session 😁

I do not know man, I only see what can be seen, i.e. non audited "trackers", financial blogs missing important financial info and elements, a monetisation system ripe for laundering, a dev team with ethics that probably would not flinch with regards to things like road tripping, a product that is severely broken and getting worst. Squadron 42 nowhere to be seen, not even at the store as time of writing.

But above all we see a delivery track record and pace that seems to have been at its slowest for a long time. You make the maths.

I mean, not really the hall marks of a company well funded, or that is properly using the largest alleged amount crowdfunded in history, or both, don´t you think?

At least the whale frenzy is falling off.

Still absoloutely ridiculous how people are still throwing money at CIG like this after all these years of non-delivery.
There seems to be an inverse relationship between the number of people who've tried Star Citizen and funding.
Buggiest Disasterous Software Scam Ever?
Years go by, millions beeing added monthly, and its still Alpha. What would it take for the game to reach Beta and Release? Clearly not the money.
I think only Chris Roberts knows that but he'll never tell anyone and risk people bringing that condition to life.

I do not know man,
For sure...

For now, 3.19 is the best version of SC I've ever played. And I'm not the only one thinking it, it's often said in the chat

I make the math that the long awaited PES is finally here and that the last major piece of tech missing is SM

For now, it's the only company doing the game I want and I can play it now. So my 45 euros have been well spent.

In between service outages right?

Lolllll

Even Chris's absurd maths has more numbers in it than that...

This is my favourite bit of Chris maths from recent years:

To support PES we needed to create 12 new services. For Server Meshing, only 4 more services are currently planned, so you can see just how much foundational tech for SM is in PES.

His absurd excuses are doubtless a form of self-defence primarily. But they're wonderful meme lures for the more gullible kind of fan too ;)
