The list will be updated soon along with the community poll tomorrow.

Very well said! I divided on the current pack, on one hand I love all the animals, on the other…….. no birds againList has been updated!
Big week for raptors! (perhaps they're celebrating JP's 30th Anniversary...) Owls ALMOST swiped the top spot, but the ducks prevail. Eagles, falcons, and the king all say a tremendous boost. As did penguins with the OG zoo simulation game penguin; the Emperor, making their list debut.
So...about yesterday...
With the release of the Arid Animal Pack, and yet another DLC without a single bird, as you all can imagine, I'm very disappointed. And I'm certainly not alone.
And there is nothing wrong with being disappointed!!! We all want Planet Zoo to be the very best it can be. Heck, in the world of zoo simulation games, it probably is.
And voicing our desire for birds - or whatever you feel the game can benefit from - is the sign of strong, passionate fanbase.
Jokes, memes, and a good sense of humor is also a very healthy sign in any community.
However, the true bitterness and hostility displayed here on the forums, and across the other PZ communities in general was frankly appalling.
Name-calling, vicious arguments, the flippant use of the worst word in the history of fandom "objectively" (I'm a Star Wars fan who loves the sequel trilogy, do NOT give me PTSD flashbacks to those times).
And it wasn't just from the disappointed camp either.
Perhaps it's because I'm an American, and a similar phrase has been used here historically to ostracize and silence marginalized communities, but I have no tolerance for "if you don't like it, don't buy it".
No. EVERYONE has a right to voice their opinion, so long as its conducted in a constructive method.
And that's what I'm getting at. I created this thread not only as Meta-Wishlist for birds, but a means to foster community amongst the larger PZ forums. And that's what it will be kept as.
Say what you feel, but do not invalidate others, and certainly do not try to ruin the enjoyment of those looking forward to the new DLC.
We're all zookeepers, so let's treat each other as such.

With said...Community poll! Taking a break from all things arid, what are some of your favorite cold temperature birds? BUT NO PENGUINS, cuz everyone loves penguins.
For me, it's puffins or its nothing. Snowy owls too!

This is exactly what was bothering me and why I didn't particularly like this criticism. I'm usually ok, but sometimes the constant criticism and low tolerance for anyone who disagrees is just, it's not ok. Well, besides penguins, I really like auks, the northern Hemisphere penguin. They look like prehistoric penguins, actually. And listen to how cool of a name this is: razorbill. With said...Community poll! Taking a break from all things arid, what are some of your favorite cold temperature birds? That sort of what blows about only having pz as the best. Fans if other game genres are lucky to have multiple choices unlike fans of zoo builders. And there is nothing wrong with being disappointed!!! We all want Planet Zoo to be the very best it can be. Simple. Rock ptarmigan. As a kid this was the most polar bird I knew that wasn’t a penguin. I live how they change plumage with the seasons too. If it counts the I also like the western capercaillie. With said...Community poll! Taking a break from all things arid, what are some of your favorite cold temperature birds? That's one thing I love about them - the snowy sheathbill is the only land bird on the Antarctic continent, they'll eat literally anything.I know this bird! Fun fact: they mainly eat penguin feces.
took somem ediocre pictures of them in Antarctica:

they are literal poop eaters
It's like a reverse pidgeon. Instead of pooping on you it eats your poopThat's one thing I love about them - the snowy sheathbill is the only land bird on the Antarctic continent, they'll eat literally anything.
I know it is irrelevant to this thread but could the Glaucous Macaw is still alive? Here is a picture of a Lear's Macaw in Pairi Daiza compared to the picture on the left. I know that the Indigo Macaw does not have a grey head so i think it is the Glaucous Macaw, which would be a good addition to the game once we get aviary birds.Source?
We don't know that for sure. On wikipedia it says it is possibly extinct.
Just because we have not been successful in finding the species, doesn't mean that it is extinct fully.
Understandable. But if it's possibly extinct, that means that it hasn't been seen in a very long time, wild or captive. So, it doubt that the glaucous macaw would ever come to PZ. Maybe one of its relatives, but not that speciesWe don't know that for sure. On wikipedia it says it is possibly extinct.

Agreed that onw of it's relatives would be in the game. But who knows we might be successful if we do it again?Understandable. I think the thing is, Frontier has stated they won't add extinct species into the game. That includes animals that have been in zoos, like the Thylacine, which could also theoretically still exist.Agreed that onw of it's relatives would be in the game. But who knows we might be successful if we do it again?
