Bravo Frontier. Another spot on Equid. Beautiful!

Wildlife park 2 had domestics with functional petting feature, semi-aquatics, fully aquatics, terrestials and even flying animals such as duck, macaw and vulture. (+ questionable prehistoric animals and dragons/unicorns)
Only revolutionary thing PZ did so far was adding exhibit system with animals no zoo game seen before: insects, arachnids and snail.

Edit: on the other hand PZ can be first zoo game to feature free flying, but it seems like frontier dont want to do so. Doubt PZ will feature something fresh for zoo genre at this point.
I don't think I made it clear then. I didn't claim any of these Categories are new in PZ. My point was if PZ manages to do all of the following at the same time, then it will be Revolutionary, setting a High Standard for future games in the Genre:

1) Continue adding Species/Animal Groups (Habitat) that were usually forgotten in old games, such as Rodents, more Variety in Ungulates, Variety in Small Carnivores, Variety in Primates, Other Small Animals, also Species that are fairly common in Zoos but not in Zoos Games, etc. Examples: ASCO, RRH, Crested Porcupine, Wallaby, Babirusa, Skunk, Grey Seal, Badger, Water Monitor, Dwarf Caiman, Lar Gibbon, Siamang, African Penguin, Prairie Dog, Red Crowned Crane, Emu, Maned Wolf, Amur Leopard, Aldabra Tortoise, Japanese Macaque, Bactrian Camel, Fallow Deer, Red Deer, Dama Gazelle, Wild Ass, Sand Cat, and so on. Apologies if some of these featured in older games in the genre, but either way it conveys my message clearly. You actually summarized it pretty well there, but can't seem to agree with me here.
2) Domestics, Functional Petting Zoos and Playgrounds.
3) Flying Birds and Aviaries.
4) Adding 1 more that I didn't mention before: Proper Aquariums/Fully Aquatics, which are usually confined to Megafauna in earlier games, with few Variety in Smaller Species.
5) I'll add your Functional Exhibit/Terraria example too. Older games either had them as Decorations or Animal Houses that we couldn't see the insides of.
6) We can also include the Building System and Variety to its Pieces to this list. Also proper Restaurants. I find some Non-Animal aspects of this game Revolutionary too.

If a Zoo Game manages to put all of these inside its Package at once, then it will set a High Bar for future games in the Genre, which is a Revolution. Because no game to date managed to do all at once. All these features combined, it will be the 1st Zoo Sim where near-Realistic Zoos can be built. Although much more Variety to Small Animals is still needed.

So far, I haven't had a single issue with any animal models this year. Both of the screenshots we have gotten so far are just drop-dead gorgeous! Even the tiny details, like the asss' veins on their necks. I can't wait to see the black rhino!

Seeing the quality and details of the animals in the last 2 DLCs, and I don't know if it would be feasible, I think it is necessary to update certain animals in the game
This would be my list of animals that I would give an update to:
  • African Wild Dog
  • American Bison
  • Snow Leopard
  • Spotted Hyena
  • Timber Wolf
  • West African Lion
  • Artic Wolf
  • Common Warthog (its color is not brown. It's rather greyish)

🤔 one Thing I've wondered about regarding the Somali Wild Ass is if it will have different Variants, slightly brownish Grey and maybe different Stripe Patterns on the Legs. Also wondering about Mutations like Albino or leucistic (if we don't see the Leg Stripes on them, those might be a good Placeholder Animal until we get Domesticated Donkeys for our Petting Zoos)

(Sigh) ...this just makes me think of that terrible joke in that one Ice Age movie...

"Burro is a derogatory word... the technical term is "wild ass".

"So the wild ass son returned to his wild ass mother."

(Children laugh)

"That's why I called it a burro!"

I just can't ignore thinking how Planet Zoo is changing the way the entire Genre will be represented in the future. So many Animals/Animal Groups that used to be ignored before are now getting love. If Flying Birds and Domestic Animals get included in this definition, it will be a Revolution!
I think this is helped a lot by not including dinosaurs or (for better or worse) aquatics like most zoo games tend to. It’s allowed Frontier to truly go the distance with actual zoo animals. Obviously we’ll never have a truly comprehensive roster, but the extent to which they’ve been able to include so many underappreciated and underutilized species is truly something special.
