Game Discussions Bethesda Softworks Starfield Space RPG

Well I think that if you think of the amount of time you'll get out of it, then it's actually more than worth it. You also have 3 months to save towards it, so you can at least get a headstart and get it close to if not at launch.

Also if it helps Green Man Gaming have a 20% discount on it :) https://www.greenmangaming.com/games/starfield-pc/

Oh, I can afford that prize tag easy enough. That's really not the issue. I do object to such high prices for any videogame as a matter of principle (for example Diablo IV also costs 70€ for the standard edition). My personal(!) guideline is ~45-55€ for a full Triple A game, maybe ~60€ for a Deluxe Edition when I really like the Developers and can get some nice goodies out of it. Asking 70€ for a standard issue is just too greedy for my personal taste and can set bad precedence for the industry.

Luckily, Bethesda is also quite fast with the first discount after release. If I recall correctly, about a month or two after I bought Fallout 76 for full prize on release day, they already offered a 30% discount 😅

Agreed, never liked the standard, deluxe, premium edition marketing before launch.

Probably because it didn't receive favorable reviews so they had to do something to drive up sales. Not to mention the canvas/nylon bag controversy.

I think Skyrim took quite a while to get any sale reduction. FO76 wasn't so successful at launch. And yeah, who am I kidding, I stopped smoking 3 years ago - where else would I dump that excess cash to if not entertainment.

I played ET as well, it wasn't that bad at all. I'm pretty sure I beat it too, I've played much worse. Historic revisionism and all that..
Yeah, hated that jungle vine game. I had pinball as favourite. There was a section at the VHS store to loan cartidges. It never ceased to amaze me how bad Atari ports often were. There was a decent one with Awing bringing down ATAT walkers on Hoth.

From what I saw so far, this could be the holy grail of space games. But I also know Bethesda games, so lets say today I'm an optimist with life experience. The only thing I am missing is multiplayer, without pvp, just to be able to interact with other players.

Starfield looks great and I'm pretty sure I'll be watching my son playing it through and may even get it myself, but I think the holy grail of space-games is well OTT. I give Star Citizen a hard time but the scope of that would suit better. However, I think Elite is still the best contender for that if development comes to full fruition with its full scale galaxy etc.

However, I do think Starfield will potentially blow the lid of the space-game genre and make it more mainstream though. Not Breath of the Wild success, but sales-wise, it may outsell all the current crop of space games combined. Or fall flat on its face due to bugs etc. we will see in September.

Indeed. Good, isn't it?
Depend on the viewpoint but we are all allowed to have our opinions, at least in the U.S., even if evidence does not back it up.

I do have to give you respect I never thought I would see in my 47 years of life someone defend E.T. the game that arguably helped put that last hot knife into the Atari.

Of all the clips that I have seen, I still do not understand where the approach to the planet, entering the atmosphere on the arc and landing ... all together.
