Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

What was the last reported word on how they intend to break it up into chapters/episodes, and which chapters are included for those of us who "pledged" for the games back in the day? Because I can quite easily imagine them turning around and saying "if you pre-ordered the legacy SC/S42 bundle or got it with a ship pack then you'll get Episode 1, or Prelude or whatever, and now here are our brand new $70/$100/$250 bundles which will give you various combinations of (planned) episodes and expansions and season packs and DLC and a space ship USB drive"

I might be getting some facts wrong, but as i recall, early backers at a higher pledge level could get all 3 planned chapters, but most early backers only got chapter 1 and 2 (or part or episode, or whatever the right word is). Later, you could only pledge for chapter 1.

One thing i find funny is when backers say when SQ42 is finished CIG can take those resources and allocate them all to SC. No, they can't. Because they still have to deliver parts 2 and 3. They probably can reduce the team size, and take 10 years to deliver part 2, but they would still have to deliver.

Of course, since CIG never actually said what all 3 parts would contain, i could see them releasing a single part but saying its all 3 parts wrapped into 1, that the whole of Chris' magnum opus is contained within it.. The faithful will celebrate being scammed in a new way by CIG.

For sure...all I said was that in star citizen it's far easier to team up with completely random players...even team mates... due to the dedicated server architecture and socially oriented nature set up by the global or party server chat, even ship internal VOIP channels. ED is peer to peer and spread over insanely vast playable areas resulting in meeting or greeting with other human players being an extremely random or seldom experienced occurence outside of the community events or common player hubs like Jameson memorial in Shinrarta Dezhra which act as a bottleneck to funnel players into. Most random player interactions in my experience of ED was nothing more than a quick 'o7' in the passing.

SC having the global chat and limited playable area is more socially oriented for random players and it's a common rather than unique occurence meeting and playing alongside other players not in your current friends or contact list.
Getting together for a team-up is a real pain in Elite. It can take half an hour before everyone's blasting away

But the random team-up with strangers has gotten better since the Thargoids turned nasty. I'm guessing it's because we are all facing a common enemy

What if Genuine Roberts magnum opus SQ404 actually turns out to be SQ451?
This is also very plausible!

Whatever happened to the CryTek lawsuit?
I recall crytek pulled out cos cig hadn’t actually released a second game (sq42) but I can’t remember any final agreement.
Edit:
Ok, I most recent stuff was on bored gamer : https://www.boredgamer.co.uk/2021/01/10/star-citizen-cloud-imperium-vs-crytek-lawsuit/
But it looks like there was an agreement made and sq42/sc moved officially to lumberyard ¯\(ツ)

I really feel sorry for you. I say that SQ42 is imminent without giving you a specific date, so you will not be able to post the day after that I'm a loser if SQ42 si not at least in beta.
Too bad, you will had to define what delay 'imminent' is !
Imminent means "about to happen", so measurable in hours or days, maybe a week or possibly two. It does not suggest month/months/year/years away.

The reason you aren't able to give a date is that you don't know anthing in fact. Therefore you cannot know that it is imminent. So, saying that "I say that SQ42 is imminent" is fanciful optomism.

You may want it to be imminent, and good luck with that unsubstantiated wish. I predict that October will not produce any predictions that will be met in part or whole. As history to date suggests.
