Summary
System: Kioskurber
Station: Wiberg Station (Coriolis starport, large pads available, 40 Ls from main star, 94.29 Ly from Sol)
Objective: Deliver Deep Tissue, Tissue and Partial Tissue samples obtained from Thargoid Titans
Time limit: 22th June 3308 @ 06:00 UTC

Description
Requests for tissue samples obtained from the Thargoid Titans have been made by Aegis.
Leon Banerjee, science correspondent for Vox Galactica, reported on the rival initiatives:
The Titans offer a tremendous opportunity for xenological research, but carry equally significant risks. These involve passing through the Maelstroms’ caustic clouds and energy barriers, avoiding Thargoid patrols, and escaping with tissue samples intact. Only the most determined pilots would undertake such missions, and the two leading anti-xeno organisations seek to attract these individuals with considerable payouts.

There are numerous unique materials identified so far. In this campaign, Aegis is looking to acquire a large stock of tissue samples. These are recovered using research limpets at various points on the Titan’s architecture, acquired from minor flaws in the Titan’s highly protective outer layers.

Ships outfitted with a pulse wave xeno scanner and research limpet controller – or a suitable multi-limpet controller - can collect these materials. Aegis has developed its caustic sink launcher and Thargoid pulse neutraliser to pass through the Maelstrom, and will look to use further xenological resources in additional advancements.
Pilots signed up to the Aegis initiative can deliver any Titan tissue samples to Wiberg Station in the Kioskurber system.
If Tier 1 of the campaign is reached, the top 75% of contributors will receive the following paint jobs:
  • Alliance Crusader Aegis Garrison
  • Federal Gunship Aegis Garrison
  • Imperial Clipper Aegis Garrison

The campaign begins on the 15th of June and will run for one week. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately.
To earn rewards you must sign up as an active participant before delivering any Deep Tissue, Tissue and Partial Tissue samples obtained from Thargoid Titans to Wiberg Station in the Kioskurber system.
Be aware that faction-state changes and other disruptive events can negatively impact markets and station services, and could prevent the initiative from running smoothly.

Ah, looks to be the same at both stations... this is from the Azimuth station:

I know nothing about approaching Titans...

Do you need a proper AX ship? Am I just going to die if I tool up my cutter with some corrosion resistant armour, big shield, and a CR cargo rack or two?

Yes.

At a minimum you need:
  • TG Pulse Neutraliser
  • Pulse Wave Xeno Scanner
  • 2 x caustic sinks
  • research limpet(s) and/or universal limpet controller
  • a cold running fit to keep your moving speed at or below 20%heat
  • CRCRs (optional, recommended)

I'd also recommend some armour tank in case of corrosive bleed through

Hmm... I may have access to the kit, but it'd be a whole new build in a ship I don't own 😔

...but maybe 😸

I don't want to hijack here - is there already a thread for ship loadouts for Titan sampling?

If not: how cold can a Viper/(i)Eagle/iCourier get?

Whatever I have, I hastily built a python for Thargoid Titan Mining. And I was able to collect 40 samples in 1 trip.

It took about 2 hours.

I think you should use a Medium ship. Believe me, the 75% limit will increase.

Haven't done any Titan stuff yet (just messed about with a Mealstrom several weeks ago) - but you were able to build a Python that could survive for two hours in a Maelstrom (system)?

I'll get back with a build, but i use a Clipper for the Universal limpet controller. The build is pretty basic, and only has like a 9Ly jump range, but keeps me at 20%.. mostly core internals engineered for low heat ... just don't get within 500m of anything.

If you're concern about caustic damage, once you get past the thargoid pulse wave there's no caustic environment near the titan so you can just hang around for hours if you want (after you burn off the caustic sludge or use a caustic sink).

This was hastily prepared but after 7k hours I had many modules available. I used whatever was available at home (in my FC).

But a Clipper, Phantom or Krait would be better. At the beginning of the video, I was hyperdicted as I jumped onto Tanaris. 2nd time I can't be so lucky with a Python.

And that's only 1 hour. I didn't record the 2nd hour because the video recorder on my PC is set to 1 hour :D

Eagle won't make it into the maelstrom - one utility slot means you can't have both a thargoid pulse neutralizer and a caustic sink.
A Viper may make it in, but without a thargoid pulse wave scanner it won't be able to collect any samples (and probably will die to caustic on the way back out).
A Courier has enough utilities but crummy internals; at most you're only going to be able to collect single figure amounts of samples each trip and given the low amount of hull you'll be holding your breath the entire time.

So its possible to build a Tissue Sampler Courier for the CG (4 utility slots, quick enough, cold enough, but low hull and cargo space)?
