Planet Zoo: Arid Animal Pack Releasing 20 June 🐪

I was so lucky to see a Crested Porcupine in my grandparents's garden at daytime, i wish i had a good smartphone/camera back then, but i was so happy i forgot to take picture anyway
I can't wait to build for them!
Did you feel at all threatened or felt the need to Run Away? Or in other words should PZ Guests run away from Crested Porcupines? Sorry for the weird question, because I'm finding evidence to back up my claim on the other thread about how Walkthrough and Non-Walkthrough Animals work in PZ.

Lol nice question
I saw it from the distance, so i did not feel scared at all, but at the same time i was like better not going near, quoting your comment i was "admiring the view" and the Porcupine did the same, just a quick look at me and gone.

So after seeing all the reveals and having had some time to think about it, this is how I rank the new animals (maybe it will change once I have the DLC).

8. Desert horned viper
7. Dama Gazelle
6. Black Rhino
5. Somali Wild Ass
4. Addax
3. Sand cat
2. Dromedary
1. African Crested Porcupine

Personally, I cant rank anything until ive had the chance of playing with said animals in game

For me it's probably:
  1. Porcupine.
  2. Addax.
  3. Gazelle.
  4. Rhino.
  5. Ass.
  6. Camel.
  7. Snake.
  8. Sand cat.
Basically in order of animals I wanted.

I guess that makes sense in terms of seeing them animated and such, but really, these animals aren't going to be functionally any different from animals already in the game.

So, when twilight came out I expected to LOATHE the striped skunk, based on the screenshots and general skunkiness, but i fell in love with it playing with it in game. I was just using it for a filler in my temperate zoo, but now it has become a staple in any colder climate zoo i make. So for me ig it is just "dont judge a book by its cover"

This happened to me for all the Twilight animals. Ironically the one I wanted the most, Wombat, is the one I use the least because it doesn't fit in many of my builds.

Wow, a lot has happened since I've been on Thursday...

(Went outta town, then a huge storm hit and ripped the power lines, so we had no electricity, no water, no internet all Friday. It's the middle of the forest, and it's super hot. But now I'm back home)

So, @Swiftie_Midnights_ was about to die, the porcupine was shown. Same ol' same ol'🤪

Gotta say, this DLC is really great. Like, most of these animals were requested, they all look fantastic

The models all look really, really great - that’s never been my issue with this pack. Rather, it’s that it’s going to add very little in terms of new gameplay, especially compared to what could have been added in an arid-themed pack.

My ranking would be:
8. Sand cat
7. Snake
6. Rhino
5. Addax
4. Gazelle
3. Ass
2. Camel
1. Porcupine

IMO, the pack could have been so much better if ranks 5-8 had been alternative animals from other regions of the world….

Was about to die? I'm on the process to die
I'm like a zombie I'm dying but then I back to live lol, I'm so about to die on Tuesday

Yeah that's pretty much what I was expecting. The feeling of happiness wouldn't be quite there otherwise. It would have been swapped with a different feeling (fear) if it was some other animal. In fact even some of the current Walkthrough Animals could trigger that feeling over a Porcupine.

@FoxyDee I agree as far as base game animals go especially with the likes of the lion and HBB the Bactrian is the least of concerns. Besides there’s so much variation to this animal I could think of a number of animals deserving of a remaster before I worry about the other camel.
I hold the opposite view. I think of the Base Game Animals, the Lion is one of the last animals of concern, since the only problem with it is it's Stylistic. Otherwise it is not a Low Quality Model or has major Inaccuracies in its Anatomy. Yes, the mane does need an update to match the new Fur Shader quality, other than the animal being Stylistic overall, but Anatomically it is a fine model. On the other hand there are many animals that need an Accuracy Fix in base game and early packs, either because they are Anatomically Wrong in their model or have a problem with their movement, like Bactrian Camel, Orangutan, female Saltwater Crocodile, female Bison, Okapi (shoulder), Gharial, Malayan Tapir, some Snakes, etc. The Lion receives so much attention only because it is a Fan Favourite, not because it is in the worst condition.

Nah the lion is the face of the game and the representation should show that. Especially with the improved models we have now days. Besides possibly the HBB it’s by far the most disappointing animal in game. It’s not terrible but stylized was definitely not the way to go. Look at the lion in my profile pic for god sakes do this animal justice.

I don't think you understood my point. I am not against a Lion Overhaul. I think a lot of Base Game animals need a revisit to make them match the Current Level of Quality. I am one of the people who voice this the most on the forums, actually. Always saying the difference between Base Game and Recent Pack animals is growing bigger and needs to be addressed. I might have said it on this thread too. Here in my last comment I just made an Objective Comparison between animals needing an overhaul, keeping Subjectivity out of it. I felt the need to make this comparison only because of your initial comment. Otherwise we are on the same page about Base Game Overhauls. HBB is one of the animals with Anatomy Issues, by the way. Other than being way too Stylistic and looking too Overweight due to Fur Shader issues, it also has a very Short Neck, even taking Fur and Art Style into consideration. Grizzly for instance also has the same Fur and Art Style issues, but it does not have major Anatomical Inaccuracies like the HBB.
