Probably because everyone between the age of 7 and 77 knows Star Wars and knows Princess Leia. Most people will have no clue who this Baal character is. And for the record, I would have asked the same question if someone would have posted the same about Carrie Fisher. Why put in-game credits for stuff that has nothing to do with Elite?

That probably indicates that FDEV (like lots of us) had no idea who "Lord Baal" was - this is just an addition to an in-game memorial beacon listing.
