Ship recall on-foot distance very large

nobody is forcing you to walk around on foot.

nobody is forcing you to take missions to distant stations.

nobody is forcing you to travel to colonia.

nobody is forcing you to mine tritium.

and on and on. i do not foresee this inconvenience being something that changes. the solution is to just do something else instead if something bothers you. time sinks are central to the game and good luck convincing fdev it's a bad design choice.

I've never seen that far of a distance but then I'm usually in combat. In an on foot combat zone upon completion the ship comes back at about 450 meters. Then I learned that a combat session can be restarted in an SRV. I park one near the settlement
Lucky you!

The last time I got followed from a settlement, I drove about 6km from said settlement and, in the middle of about 5 million square miles of absolutely pancake flat, no rocks in sight, featureless terrain, I recalled my ship... Well, featureless, except for that ONE area about 1 km AWAY. You know the one that's full rocks spaced far enough away from each other to make it real hard to drive the SRV. Yeah, that one... The ship will never land there, not when it's so far away and I'm in the middle of 5 MILLION SQUARE MILES of FLAT, FEATURELESS, terrain...

Would you like to know how that worked out for me?

Clue... I had just about 10% when I dismissed my ship and it high waked. Oddly, the taxi I called for did land close by in the open terrain.

In my experience the ship tries to land on the ground you passed over. For this reason I tend to locate a reasonable looking landing zone, drive across it and turn 180 so I'm looking at my own tyre tracks/ footprints. The ship will land on top of them 9 times out of 10.

No, I rarely see it land like that.
