Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

If it had one thing it was variety. Like I'd love if every animal in pz got an easy to make extra version. Granted having 2 koalas at base game is a bit absurd.
Funny you say that, I was thinking about compiling a list of animals that could be "easily" made out of existing ones as a thought exercise. I'm talking different species of zebras, giraffes, new brown bears and wolves, things that would be functionally identical to in-game animals except in appearance.

Here's something different to discuss, what is the habitat reptile you want to see most in the game?
Priorities:
  1. The sea turtle with its beautiful shell takes my top spot.
  2. Large freshwater turtles would also be awesome. A big snapping and/or softshell turtle would be neat.
  3. After hearing from Australian players, I have become convinced that an Australian monitor is needed
  4. Argentine Tegu could probably work as a habitat lizard, which would add to an underrepresented region and taxon.
  5. Africa probably ought to have a crocodile.
  6. The absence of the spurred tortoise has been noted.
  7. I like the Chinese alligator's cute, stubby snout.
  8. Though its probably not possible, I really want smaller pond turtles (the kind that sit on logs). I could settle for a prop or two that looks like them to decorate waterways.
  9. There are a few other monitors that could work.
  10. Maybe a smaller tortoise like the Burmese star?
Beyond that, there are a few other crocodilians that could add value if support were endless.

I had the necessity to put this. ZT3 was bad in some things, but amazing in others ;)

The mini-exhibits were my favourite thing in ZT3, they just had a lot of cool species that haven't been featured in zoo games before or since.

It was such a conflicting game for me, on one hand, the animal variety was miserable. So much of the roster was made up of subspecies you basically had 8 flavors of the same lion. Also you had almost 0 customizability, it was very limited. You really couldn’t build any of the exhibits, and some were so extravagant it almost seemed unrealistic. Also the guests were so obnoxious I got sick of dealing with them, dude you don’t need food, water, a bathroom, and entertainment every 100 feet!

On the other hand……
  1. You had some cool variety with decorations, but entertainment, and food stalls. The minor customization you can do was really nice. Which helped make the building in the game way less overwhelming than Planet Zoo.
  2. Animals you release will be tracked in the wild, so you can see the reservations they live on and even if they have kids!
  3. You can drive a golf kart around your zoo and it is so much fun! The first person mode is super fun! You can interact with your animals and do other cool things.
  4. While the subspecies issue is bad, my god the animal variety in the updated version is amazing. So many animals I wish were in planet zoo were in this game. The highlights for me were the birds, you had owls, falcons, trumpeter birds, macaws, cockatoos, flamingos, peacocks, and quails. It also had some cool reptiles and small mammals.
Many of these features I wish could be implemented in Planet Zoo, at this point I don’t even want fully functioning aviaries, just give me birds like in ZT3 and at the very least I’ll be happy.

And don’t forget the officially licensed Chef Boyardee merch! Still don’t know why that was there…

I will explain. In PZ forest biome is split into tropical (forest) and temperate (forest). Simple as it is.
That makes sense. I was thinking if we have the Forest tag it could be used to along with the Temperate and Tropical tags like how many animals have multiple tags so it could be:

Tropical Forest
Temperate Forest
Taiga Forest
Tropical Grassland, etc, etc.

But I guess it's not really needed. It only be useful if we had a lot more plants in game. I just was surprised after looking into biomes that such a large biome had no tag in game, like you said it is covered in a simple way. Edited for typos.

Hands-down, a habitat turtle species that’s semi-aquatic. Don’t care which one (there’s so many to choose from I’d take a couple before pretty much every other reptile type). Green Sea Turtle, Alligator Snapping Turtle, Fly River Turtle, Giant Arrau Turtle, the list could go on..

Honestly, a habitat turtle is at the top of my personal wishlist for PZ. A big category that’s still completely empty in the game rn.

Here’s a cool example of a mixed habitat shared by American Alligators and Alligator Snapping Turtles at the California Academy of Sciences. (The turtles are chillin under the waterfalls in the left corner, can be kinda hard to see them in the pic due to the lighting)

Whata duo, if only 🥺
