Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Agreed and even though I can understand the time spent on the porcupine resulted in less time for others, they still could’ve chosen animals that were clones, but were different from eachother, coyote is a wolf clone, spurred tortoise is a clone form Aldabra, I can’t see any reason why they didn’t do more choices like these.
While I am good with the roster, I do wish we could've gotten a different animal. Might be controversial, but I would've preferred a baboon over the sand cat (please don't hate me)
He said "Dama gazelle & wildebeest > birds"
I think he was joking, though l. Was he?
I like captain callum we just disagree
You can always trust somebody who calls themself Captain. Look at Captain America, Captain Underpants, and Cap'n Crunch

Oh for sure and it is amazing. It's a work of art practically and given the likely extra effort given in designing in (hello quills!), and how good it looks period, the one of the best if not the best designed animal in the game.

But yeah, I don't want to keep harping on the Arid pack, and I do like the roster more than I did at launch, but I think it was mainly the second antelope that drags the pack down a bit more me. A tortoise or even another canid - Golden Jackal? Would have given us little more variety. Even though we already have plenty of canids.

If I'm not mistaken, the Arid pack also sets a new precedent for the roster by having two of the same "type" of animals in the same pack. Dall Sheep/Reindeer and -to a much lesser extent - the Beaver/Prairie Dog are about the closest that came to that and other than that the individual pack rosters have been pretty diverse. If nothing else, that gives me hope that maybe they'll find a way to get more than one New World Primate in a pack, if a theme ever allows it.

Where are my Coyotes? One can wish…

Fallow Deer/Ibex?

Wild water buffalo and Nile lechwe was the only instance of two members of the same family coming in the same pack prior to this if I'm not mistaken. In both instances they've been bovids, which sets good precedence for two caprines in a mountain pack I guess lol.

(Also getting two rodents in one pack is nothing compared to getting 3 to 4 carnivorans in multiple different packs)

Yep I’ll have no complaints if we get 2 bovids in a mountains pack like if we get Takin and Markhor, or even something like the Barbary sheep.

I hate that we are at the bottom of the bag when it comes to ideas. Like the lowest diverse place on earth deserts was covered. Now we're asking for tundra, and mountain and petting zoos.

Despite the fact that MILLIONS OF BIRDS AND MILLIONS OF FISH are just being ignored.

Stop ignoring the elephant bird in the room! No one wants your pet store dlc! Who's in charge I want to speak with them
But mountains are islands in the sky and havens for cool endemic animals (many of which are birds). Say what you want about mountains, tundra, and petting zoo themes, but want some monals, puffins, and ducks!

GOOD UNGULATES > Dama gazelle, blue wildebeest, and nile lechwe
I think this probable a hyperbollic joke, buy I still think it's weird to refer to some animals as "good" or "bad" as species (is we're talking about the models that's something else entirely). I didn't know about the dama gazelle or nile lechwe before their inclusion in the game. Now I know that these beautiful animals exist and I want to keep them from going extinct. Yes, I want more of the more familar ungulates in the game, but I'm glad that a game about conservation is bringing awareness to lesser known species in need of conservation.

NA had two rodents

NA had two rodents
Yeah I know, I'm saying it's not a good comparison to getting two antelopes (seen this brought up a couple times here now). Rodents are an order - Carnivora is also an order and we got 4 of them in the Southeast Asia and 3 of them in Twilight, Grassland and North America respectively, and yet the beaver and prairie dog are being singled out.

Huh? Frontier is constantly tossing around few carnivorans each pack.

In a way yeah it was but frontier still had to sneak in the sand cat.
In that sense, perhaps it's safe to consider there'd be at least one carnivore in the upcoming DLC. Then what about other species could be added to balance? Apart from primates and birds of course.
Edit: I'd say more marsupials could work; making Tassie devils and numbats good candidates for temperate pack. Also echidna would be nice too

My perfect DLC for this year (and yes, I hope we get more in 2024) would be:

Temperate Animal Pack
1. Tasmanian Devil
2. North Island Brown Kiwi
3. Spectacled Bear
4. Southern Pudu (or another SA deer)
5. Reeve's Muntjack
6. Golden Pheasant
7. Wild Boar
8. North American Porcupine (Walkthrought Exhibit)

Mountain Pack
1. Sichuan Takin
2. Hamadryas Baboon
3 Wolverine
4. Markhor
5. Flying Squirrel (Walkthrought Exhibit)

and the more common wildebeest in zoos
Fun fact: its not.
Or atleast subspecies frontier chosen. In game wildebeest is famous subspecies from serengeti plains (western white-bearded wildebeest), which itself isnt found in european zoos at all.
I believe most captive specimens come from south africa (black-bearded subspecies).

Maybe in NA situation looks different, but I dont know.

I’m curious that outsource_lqa was last updated 4 days ago. This is now in the top section on Steam Database here - https://steamdb.info/app/703080/depots/. Once a DLC has launched doesn’t this usually go to the bottom section until a few weeks before launch? Could this be for a new DLC? There doesn’t seem to be a pattern for fall DLC. Australia was released in Aug 2020 (I know there was potential issues due to Covid), North America start of Oct 2021 and Twilight mid Oct 2022. Just wondering if we could see a DLC in September this time? This also may be nothing!
