Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Alright, here's my shot in the dark:

Coastal Pack:
Pacific walrus (headliner)
Sea otter
Great white pelican
Little blue penguin -- I'm being optimistic by proposing a pack with two birds, but there aren't that many mammals you can go with here.
Giant pacific octopus -- an aquarium animal that could actually work in the current exhibit box format, albeit with a new biome theme. Alternatively, thinking bold here--a touch pool with multiple fish and invertebrate options.

I don't know how, when and probably never monothematic DLC will arrive, but this game should have some DLC on those animals that there is a terrible lack of: flying birds, monkeys and in general animals of South America/Amazonia.

For the rest, the game has almost all the most significant animals present in zoos, you should do some grafts here and there, but all in all you can't complain.

What was frontier’s part in it then?
Frontier made the original game for the Xbox in 2013. Microsoft later handed the game over to Asobo Studios to do the remaster/PC port that resulted in Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection (2017), which is when all the South American and Australian animals were added. So essentially Frontier made the base game and Asobo Studios made one big SA + Australia expansion.

Gotcha thank you

So this is probably just random but I'm seeing a pattern here. Every since the Wetlands pack, we've been getting an animal (or more) from Oceania in every two packs on average.

Wetlands - 1 animal
Conservation 0 animals
Twilight - 1 animal
Grasslands - 2 animals
Tropical 0 animals
Arid - 0- animal

The fact Grasslands has 2 instead of 1, makes up for there not being 1 in the Arid pack

Based off this pattern, we should get 1 or possibly 2 Oceanian animals with the Winter Pack. 1 to stick with the current pattern, or 2 if there would not be plans to put them in one of the first two packs of 2024. Assuming there is that many packs left.

2 at once would work really well based on the islands theme, we have 3 really popular contenders for that. But I think the Tassie and Kiwi are a bit more likely than a Tree Kangaroo.

Like I said at the start of the post, it may just be random and there is no pattern, just coincidence, but worth bringing up regardless I think.

I agree with devil and kiwi being the most likely to arrive this year. Both also fit the often talked about Temperate Pack pretty well. Although with the next pack most likely being scenery, i dont see us getting them both. Would love to tho

Echidna would be quite easy to make out of Platypus land movements right?
Would really love to get them this year and they also fit into temperate from what I know. Extremly versatile creatures.
Australian Alps animals are really fascinating.

I could see getting both. Prediction (and I could be wrong): if we get one of either the Kiwi or Devil, we're going to get the other in a pack, which I suspect would be an island pack. If we get both of them in the same pack that is not an island pack, I think an island pack will not get made.

I say this because while many people are putting the emphasis on the Devil, I think either one could be the big draw for a pack. I know the Tree Kangaroo is popularly requested and unique and all that, but I just don't see it having the same clout.

@nutrit Oh my goodness. The Echidna is also temperate? We could well end up with a temperate pack that's focused on Oceania. Wouldn't that be something few saw coming?

Tasmanian Devil
Kiwi
Echidna
I'm not sure what the fourth Habitat animal would be. Is the Little Blue Penguin found in temperate environments? Or some other animal that might work?
not sure on the exhibit

But what are the chances we get an islands pack this year? My own guess would be that we get the Tassie Devil in a temperate pack, and we don’t get the kiwi until either next year or not at all. The kiwi isn’t an essential animal for me, there are both far more interesting birds and more interesting representatives for New Zealand imo.

I cant see getting an island pack at all really, tropical getting heavy island themed scenery ended my hopes of getting one. Temperate and similar packs fill the desired island animal slots regardless.

For me, the Tropical pack's scenery was what I would have anticipated out of an Islands scenery pack. But the animals people want when they say they want an "Island" pack don't line up with that scenery at all for the most part.

They could arguably do an Islands animal pack at some point but I think you're right... Pulling those animals into other packs (e.g., temperate, arboreal/treetops, woodlands or whatever) would get us there just as well.

I think we still have 4 packs left, ending off in summer of next year before the new planet game releases in 2024 Q4.
This is my thinking as well. Folks are assuming 2 more because those are the folders we can see but ending in Summer 2024 is a more likely scenario (with whatever new Frontier-owned IP game they have coming getting announced after the last DLC).

I was at the zoo this morning and this is the kind of wall set I want for the next DLC.

This is the dream, really. Haha. A horizontal "log cabin" type wall with moss/grunge like the most recent brick set would go nicely with many of the packs folks are talking about (e.g., temperate, arboreal, woodlands).
