Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Sidenote: Does anybody know what "internal 01" means in the SteamDB? Not assuming it means anything but I'm just curious... I don't think I've seen it before. Feels like it could be something for internal testing?

Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 and Ukraine 🇺🇦
Saiga were also on Calgary zoo's 20 year master plan, which would be a good fit given the similarity of climate. There's also historic precedence since a nearby game farm had shockingly good luck breeding saiga (and keeping them alive afterwards) in the 70s.

Unfortunately, after the plan was released the zoo flooded, the province caught fire, 2020 happened, and the presumed source of said saiga is in Ukraine.

But... they're managed to complete about half of the plan despite setbacks. I live in hope.

I'm still thinking it will be Woodland/Temperate/Forest Pack with both Tasmanian Devil and Wild Boar in it. Maybe a deer species and South American animals in it too. It would be nice if Wolverine is in this pack :)
For free update, maybe they will introduce nocturnal behaviour since Tasmanian Devil is nocturnal?

Temperate Pack
  • Tasmanian Devil
  • Reeves Muntjac
  • Wild Boar
  • South American Coati / Greater Rhea
  • Hummingbirds (WTE)
Getting hummingbirds might explain why we didn’t get a WTE animal last pack, maybe they were spending more time on the hummingbirds?
I really like this pack. I mean not de wild boar but i have to give up something 🤣

But i've been hoping for hummingbirds since the butterflies.

Coatis are not that temperate though. More tropical / subtropical. They live in humid rainforests here. I would be happy with a howler as well.

Either muntjac or pudu es good as well.

And i'm not opposed to pheasant, kiwi, duck or swan, but rhea is priority for me although i still think is perfect for anniversary.

That would be neat, but I'm wondering if that's possible, since they didn't introduce that as actual behavior with the Twilight pack. Given we can set our zoo hours how we want, and the speeds how we want, it would have to be tied to hours the zoo is open when it's dark, which is going to differ wildly. Still, if they can sort it out somehow that would be great. It would be interesting to see many of the animals behave differently depending on the sunlight or darkness.

I don't see "nocturnal" behaviors happening with the current game engine, TBH. But I do think folks might be onto something about increasing guest interactions with animals... It really has slowly, and subtly, ramped up over the last handful of updates.

And something like "feeding stations" of any sort would really get people stoked.

My Wishlist for a WOODLANDS ANIMAL PACK!

Looks legit like Frontier choices - no bird, not even a Kiwi.
And where is the problem with that? I don't want a kiwi. Enough flightless birds from Oceania already: We got the Cassowary and the Emu.
I rather wish for more animals to complete the South American roster

Who says so? Last year we got two Building Packs in a row, Conservation Pack and Twilight Pack. So it's very likely that we can get to Animal Packs in row now.
No its not really, first of all, scenery packs sell better overall, second of all, the only reason we got scenery packs back to back last year was to fit with the Halloween theme so they could give us halloween pieces, and third of all, thats a very long time without giving players new pieces. A lot of people play and wait for the intention to get new pieces, and they would have to wait from April all the way to December to get new pieces, which I would imagine results in a significant player drop. I'm not saying it wont happen 100%, but saying its very likely is a stretch.

This is pretty spot-on. The swap in formats has only happened the one time and for a very clear/specific reason. And I truly think having two scenery packs back-to-back has a very different impact than having two animal packs in a row as far as the player base is concerned.

It's particularly important now, considering how poorly the Arid Animal pack was perceived by the general player base. A strong scenery pack with a theme and scenery items people are really excited about and a strong selection of habitat animals is pretty critical for this next pack, IMHO. It could really change the "temperature" on the videos created by content creators, etc.
