Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

I also just wanna mention that, for JWE mods, the modders managed to make new animations, I believe. So, since PlanZo uses the same engine, it's not impossible for them to make a good looking sifaka. Is it likely? Probably not, but it's not impossible

Well simply all 3 lemurs to fill diverse desires, its the best of what we have at the moment because simply the chances of getting a sifaka officially are next to none at this stage.
But you already used two of them to substitute for monkey species? So at the end of the recreation, many primates will be used multiple times in your zoo for different animals. Obviously, one should pray for a primate/monkey pack for better realism and more immersive experience.

I think Cap meant that the primate mods are based off of said in-game animals, not that he'll substitute a lemur for a monkey and then have the lemur again

I've used multiple counts of lynx before, lemurs are probably the most common multiple habitat count along with Dwarf Caimans to replace Dwarf crocodiles. I see no issue with placing an animal more than once, change the habitat sign to the real animal and that's me sorted. I know my recreation business does not make everyone happy, 4 years of doing this shows what the ideal picture could of been.

Actually many players do sadly repeat animals if they are building their recreation because not everyone uses the right mods to be able to access the animals if you plan on uploading your work.

In any case, obviously official animals are better because you can use them in franchise and everyone can access them regardless of what mods are used.

We all appreciate your hard work and artistry you are doing your best. I'm just wishing Frontier will give us more content to help you and similar re-creators and improve realism/immersion.

And now the discussion is about if we already got all the essencial animals?

Like, why do you guys even argue about that, dont we all want more animals? What does it matter if we got the essentials or not. Yes we already got a great roster, way better than what any other zoo game out there, but there is nothing wrong with wanting more and sometimes I almost feel like people like to argue that we actually do not need any more. Ahh, the good old times when we all wanted this game to go for as long as possible.

I'm sorry if I turned this into the usual doomer talk 😅 my honesty about what I think about the games future comes off in the wrong direction at times. Half of me wants support for the game to continue until we get even the most niche birds possible, while the other half says the arid pack was the last dlc for the game.

pretty much everyone here would love the game to go on for several more years - certainly I would but I also know that what I’d like to be the case has zero effect on the game’s actual lifespan…. I’d love it to be supported for 5 years but I also know that’s very, very unlikely.

Can’t help it when the Earth is so full of animals.

On a similar note, this is gonna sound like a steamy hot take but the call for tassie, secretary bird, and walrus (the three I hear the most) is probably a result of a combination of nostalgia and echoing what a few content creators said (which could be explained with the first reason again).

Coatimundi, coypu, helmeted guineafowl, and mute swan are more “zoo basic” than those three.
I understand the secretary bird and walrus being nostalgic, but the Tassie? I just want it because I'm Australian and it's one of most common zoo animals still missing.

We need to talk about the moving of the goalposts going on in the community. If anyone 2-3 years ago would declare the tasmanian devil or tree kangaroo "essential", or "necessary for completion of the roster" they'd be called out as niche and unneccessary.

Hell I still remember when a ton of amerian players declared the game complete following the north america pack.

The game already has all widely known high profile zoo animals. It's just that as we get more animals we want we keep declaring new animals as "essential" and "zoo basics" as a community, and this moving of the goalposts will seemingly never end.
Well, I'd say the game already has all the widely known high profile zoo mammals. Otherwise though, absolutely agree especially with the whole "moving of the goalposts" thing. 3 to 4 years ago, the Tasmanian Devil, Wolverine, Walrus and Coati (to pick 4 more currently wanted mammals) would have been considered niche additions. Sure, every animal is probably someone's favorite, even way back then, but to consider them high profile additions way back at launch or first year would have been a big stretch.

It actually speaks a lot for the mammal roster that we're down to these animals as the most wanted missing mammals. Aside from a general shortage of New World Monkeys, basic zoo mammal representation is complete. And trying to say it's not, it's really kind of ridiculous to compare what's most wanted by taking someone like the Tassie or Coati and putting them on the same level of animals that were added early on like the Kangaroo or Penguin (not a mammal but the same idea is there).

If Frontier stopped releasing content at this point, I think many of us, myself included would be disappointed about certain animals not making it in. But I could not say that the zoo roster was lacking anything basic at least mammal wise.

No, even considering mammals and excluding monkeys, there aren't enough nocturnal small primates. Many major zoos will have a small mammal collection that basically puts PZ's small mammal roster to shame.

For example, Berlin Zoo has 169 mammals. Tierpark Berlin has 199. PZ has 110 (technically 106 species as 4 are sub-species).

To plug this gap, Frontier should release dedicated Monkey, Nocturnal packs in the future. Also adding some domestics wouldn't hurt either.

A dedicated nocturnal pack would be confusing for frontier because they already marketed a nocturnal centered dlc already.

Twilight is dawn or dusk. Nocturnal would be like black night. Totally in the dark. It will be the animal pack counterpart to Twilight except with a complete black theme and comprised solely of nearly 100% nocturnal creatures. Also enable new nocturnal mechanics.

But yeah, there might not be any commercial potential to this.

But if we get the following animal packs: Nocturnal, Monkey, Reptile, Insect, a Domestic animal scenery pack, and a Bird Expansion Pack, the game will feel truly complete.

Agreed! Wholeheartedly! I don't know why people are saying the roster doesn't need to expand. I am Grateful to Frontier. The Game is better than I ever thought it would be. ...and now I am so spoiled enough animals doesn't exist to me. I mean, does anyone really seriously think we can't use more? The ONLY thing I could think of against adding more is slogging through the animal market/zoopedia/enrichment filters. Yet, I am willing to scroll for my faves that have yet to be in game.

The tree kangaroo is one of those animals that I don't really understand how it's necessary. I would like to see it in the game, but in no way do I need it. They are unique and a nice New Guinea animal but these are pretty rare animals in zoos and there is way more essential Oceanian picks imo (Tassie devil, Kiwi, Echidna) that are all way more iconic and important.
Kiwi? Really?
