I disagree with 99.999999% of what LA posts. The only thing I'd agree with is SSD's.

I truly don't get why anyone is still running spinning rust for anything other than storage. People are spending serious money of GPU's, CPU's and games without realising how cheap a decent SSD is compared to the benefit it gives everything.

I still have a spinny for older game installs, since it makes no real difference for those. Don't know how its still going, i've had it years.

I suppose it depends in part on how much can be held in memory.

I'm pretty happy with low resolution/simple graphics games, as long as they have solid gameplay, eg The Long Dark, Valheim, Dishonoured. This is not to say that I don't enjoy "oh wow" quality graphics, but it's a 'nice to have' for me. ymmv

It's a real advice if you want to enjoy SF at the max. Nothing related to SC.
Aye, the comment was appreciated. I do have an SSD. Most folks these days do. Weren't all them problems with running Star Citizen on HDDs several years ago?

By the time Star Citizen is released the system spec will be trivial for those future PCs

Ok I played StarField for a few hours and this is what I could say......first of all game is very polished I didn't experience any major bugs so far it is pretty demanding game but it is all around well optimized for example on my 6700 XT in 4k resolution with FSR2(55% basically 1440p res) and mid/high settings game works between 45-65 FPS and it is very smooth without any stuttering 'tho there are many loading screens and yes they are very short but still they do have that annoying effect...
Now when it comes to the game-play I must said that so far I didn experience NOTHING groundbreaking the game feels mostly as FPS/Adventure there is a ship and you need to fly it ofcourse but it is very arcadish feeling and somehow feels as your secondary choice....So far few missions that I played are mostly go there do this take that and so on skill leveling looks OK and there are many more things to learn.....All in all game is good but if you expecting something more like simulation then maybe it's not for you or if you believe that game-play have that amazing WoW-factor well then in my humble opinion just forget about it because you probably ain't going to experience that in SF.....

Besides what others have answered I'll add: what fidelity ? do you mean the completely broken, cartoon-like physics ? or the ships that dismantle themselves when you look at them sideways ? Or the vast amount of useless things inside the ship that are there to make you think the game is "deep in scope" while they are just empty 3D assets with no function ? Or the "magic radar that sees everything" all the time ? Or the missiles that cannot track a stationary, huge target ? Or the lasers that travel at 100m/s or less ? or the stationary planets and magically hovering space stations ? Is that what you mean by "fidelity" ?
And by "scope" do you mean "a single star system with 4 planets and a few moons that's not even complete and still is missing the star itself ? Or a handful of random-gen fetch quests plus 2 (two !!) different "kill the bad guys" quests that are also place holders by the way ?

Oh and lifts, door and ladders in Starfield do not kill you.
When I start playing SF this coming week, I will likely have SC trauma. You know, like when the elevator door opens and you wait an extra two seconds so that the floor is definitely there? Like that.

Also, I'm on an NVMe M.2 SSD so none of that from the SC folks.

Be reassured, elevators, trains, traps, ladders in cargo bay and almost all doors don't really exist, they are only static assets that teleport you to another map.

False, the door separating whichever ship module from the pilot cabin moves pretty well. Same for the the restroom door. Same for alot of other doors, as well.
Might be a good idea to actually test the game before making statements. Just sayin'

I am strangely reassured that this 'really does exist'...

Who knew that malfunctioning trains, ramps, elevators and ladders were actually a selling point?
Truely, the future of commuting is presented before us. Space trams . Such cleverness. Such demonstration of the might of the Human mind... Astonishing.
