Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Because Is a ABC animal for the zoos of North America ( Canada, USA and Mexico ) mant people say " but we have the grizzly Bear" but they are so different un sizes of biomes, the ABB could live in the desert, Grassland, Temperate and the taiga, also it has a lot and cool color morphs
What um getting from this is that I the best game we should've had ABB over the Formosan and the Eurasian brown bear over grizzly. The everyone would've been happy.

I would replace the Formosan black bear by a generic Asian black bear. That's the thing with bears, that they are so diverse and widely distributed that I need many. Animals like tigers and leopards are also diverse, but they all look very similar and are only found in one or two continents For me, the perfect bear representation in game would be:

North America: American black bear + Grizzly + Polar bear
South America: Spectacled bear
Europe: Eurasian brown bear + Polar bear
Asia: Panda + Sun bear + Asian black bear + Sloth bear + Polar bear

Which such diverse animals, I don't think focusing on very specific subspecies is good and I prefer getting the general species (I wouldn't mind merging the grizzly and EBB under brown bear).

And I really wish that either the fall or winter DLC gives me a new bear!

Crazy how so many people in the community are jumping on the conclusion that it's going to be a NA centered temperate pack when NA is currently one of the best represented areas in the game and there is literally zero need for a pack focusing on it, specially the temperate region??? If anything it would make more sense to switch the focus to either the cold areas (muskox, walrus, wolverine) or the central american region of NA (peccary, monkeys, etc.) which are like a million times more wanted.

I don't know what the line of thought is or if it's just PZ players from the US being full of themselves or something but such a pack would be a huge bummer that not even the Tassie could balance out (like at least the Arid pack covered a previously underrepresented area which is North Africa and Middle East).

Mixed biome textures. That is all.

That's the most probable guess, I think. Although I'm not sure how useful that would be for me, about textura I would rather have @Marvinb 's idea about mulch pieces:

Reminds me of an idea i had the other day.
Differnt texture versions of the mulch pieces like sand, gravel, dirt etc versions of them. Would be super usefull imo

But I have another two crazy ideas about the meaning of "we are mixing things" (if it really has a meaning):

  • Another new playlist with new music and remix songs and that.
  • The Final Pack™ where they mix a lot of very different species that lack any common theme and were left from previous DLCs.

We've had a fair share of different temperate packs with Oceania, Asia, Europe and central America having all appealing wishlists, guess this time around was the North American wishlists. I would much rather a colder focus if revisiting north america considering the wealth of temperate American animals already ingame.

It's not about the need, which is also subjective, it's more about, at least in my case, unspoken leads.

First one is naming of the packs this year. We have Tropical and Arid. Those are climate types. By the same classification we're left with Temperate, Continental and Polar.

Having temperate now means more sensible scenery choices (What is continental scenery?) and also leaving more animals for said Continental Animal pack (Read mountains). The other reason leans onto another, also sound, theory.

That is: Packs from this year complete the ones from 2021. Tropical DLC brings scenery for SEA animal pack, Arid DLC brings animals for Africa pack scenery. Continuing down that route it makes even more sense that we would get NA focused Temperate pack. And when I say focused I mean scenery and up to two animals. Tropical pack way.

So it's not about wishes at the end of the day. God knows I would sacrifice temperate pack for Tropical Pack 2 with blackjack and new world monkeys, but it's more about what can we realistically expect - given what we already got.

Crazy how American players (on this forum atleast) share the love for other regions like Oceania and SA but when it’s time for an animal that is near omnipresent in our zoos it’s a whole fit from people from around the world. Making an American zoo is not complete in PZ without the American Black Bear. I understand other regions have similar problems but on this forum atleast I’ve seen the majority of American players be understanding and welcoming to those species lacking from other regions collections. Why is it such an uproar that we want something too?

Coming off the manatee discission, question to all: What are your pet peeves when it comes to speculation threads/wishlists/discussions on the forum?
Animal can't come because similar animal is already ingame. Doesn't stop me hoping for more lynx, bears and african monkeys. Also animal like manatee can't come because mechanics not in game are required to implement said animal, walkthrough exhibit is possible so why not another new feature.

Ok but on a more serious note, I dislike when popular speculation/wishlist picks are mistaken for some kind of formal demand.

"How could they omit X animal from X pack, even tho they know how much WE ASKED FOR IT?!"

I'm almost sure that we are getting a temperate pack, but I don't think it will be focused on NA. I think it's going to focus more on Oceania and Eurasia, with maybe 1 NA animal. After all, the horizontal wood building theme that many of us are expecting is not exclusive to NA, we also have buildings like that in the old world. Also remember how the twilight pack had only 1 European animal and the building theme was European. So the building pieces and the animals don't need to match (Africa pack was another good example of this missmatch).

I don't think PZ is going to make another DLC focused on NA but I also think that the NA animals list is not complete yet. If we're about to get a temperate forest pack, here is what would I would want as an European:
1) Tasmanian Devil (Oceania)
2) Kiwi (Oceania)
3) Eurasian Wild Boar (Europe & Asia)
4) American or European Marten (NA or Europe)
5) North American Porcupine (NA)
6) Japanese Raccoon Dog (Asia)
7) Japanese Serow (Asia)
8) No idea for the exhibit or the walk-through. Could be a lot of thing.

I know Eurasian Wild Boar and Japanese Raccoon Dog are quite high on the meta whishlist but also very criticized. IMO both of them are essential to represent a bit more their region. I mean we definitely need more animals for Europe and a temperate forest pack would be a great occasion to introduce 1 or 2 of them.

Also, I don't put the Spectacled Bear in this list because I would expect it more in a Mountain pack.

And finally, to talk a bit about the American Black Bear that seems to divide opinions, I would definitely put it as an anniversary animal. Like a lot of people I can't imagine the game without it but I also understand why other people don't find it very attractive. I think that having it for free is the best compromise.

Edit: and yeah, as you can see I think a temperate forest pack would be an animal pack and not a scenery one. Doesn't mean it's going to be the case. It's just my opinion.
