Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I clicked on the "take a look to see where the money goes!" link half expecting to see the photo of Chris Roberts on a yacht.

I was disappointed and a little digusted. A company with $600mil crowd funding is begging for $110 a month?

Some noteworhty lines
"The Star Citizen Tools wiki (SCT) is committed to honesty, financial transparency and accountability"
"This progress bar is updated manually and may not reflect current situation "

They listed what they needed the money for in the $110 a month + $100 for developing new features, but what about money that went over that requirement? Where does it go? Their Patreon netted $1,852.58 in 2022, but nothing said about $400 left over.

Yeah as others said it's not owned by CIG, Knowing CR they probably pay the extra to CIG for the right to use SC images on the website!

Haven’t read in detail but that is a community based 3rd party tool no? Not CIG?

Its not official, its third party.

They give money to CIG, they don't take money from CIG!

Ah, ok thanks for the correction.
Reading it I was under the impression it was CIG who set it up.

The leaks discord says this is an internal email from Erin Roberts:

Hi everyone,

Starfield's release has given us all a massive opportunity. From early gameplay reports, what it has shown, is how much more advanced and sophisticated our tech is (above and beyond we do it in multiplayer too) and how only Star Citizen can and will give players the opportunity to live and breath in a huge open world universe. No loading screens, no boundaries, limitless exploration. Live the dream.

Because of our tech drive last year with persistence and the issues we have had to deal with through 3.18 and 3.19, 3.20 is our first real opportunity to really re-ignite our community's engagement, as well as hopefully start to bring in players who had higher expectations of Starfield. But it does not stop at 3.20 for this year, we've got the huge opportunity to continually improve our experience through our 3.20.1 patch for Citcon, our 3.20.2 for IAE, ending with our 3.21 patch for the end of the year. Let's remind our community why they invested their time and money in Star Citizen, let's build their excitement up again as we go into our first Citizencon in 4 years.

This is an opportunity we cannot miss.

They missed the opportunity around 2014 and never really aimed for anything since, if I worked at CIG I'd be confused about what I'm supposed to do and how do I know if I missed it again?
Live. the. dream. That's what you're supposed to do. You can start with bogus progress reports, "tech" you pull from your rear and breakthroughs you make up just to replace them soon with some other hot "tech" pulled from some other dark recess.

Honestly, it just looks like Erin Robbers isn't the good guy some have made him out to be. He's just another eager money collector in the scam game. That mail is just a motivational push to keep the labrats on board.

Two things about that possible leaked discord.

To benefit off Starfield dissapointed customers, Star Citizen has to not only provide open world and no loading screen but everything else Starfield has as well. Also I think the ones who were dissapointed by Starfield might already have Star Citizen.

Secondly, "3.20.1 patch for Citcon" its not like they'll be able to add features they learned from Starfield's "failure" in the short amount fo time between now and Citcon so it sounds more like pep talk and official internal comminucaton to convince their staff Star Citizen is doing well.

That's where supplemental "dreams.txt" comes in. "We don't have this now, but we will SOON, and Starfield will be nothing compared to it. We're still very early in the alpha stage, but everything's coming together. Buy an Idris."

To be fair the message claims Starfield lacks miracle-dream-tech, not that it's failed.

Can't put a number on miracle-dream-tech ;)

What miracle dream tech? Broken physics and grids? Broken or, at the very least, extremely poor/limited 64b conversion? Broken PES? Broken AI? Broken missions? Broken etc etc etc? I mean, what really is a "dream" in SC? The store?

How can tech be "dream tech" or "much more advanced and sophisticated [than SF´s]" if it breaks just by coughing at it? I mean by that standard, my tech to go to Pluto in under 6 months is much more advanced than SpaceX or NASA. See proof here attached:
