Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Right now I live in an apartment in a major urban center so I'm not getting much wildlife around me outside of pigeons, sparrows, and mice. Where I grew up was on the edge of a forest and we attracted a lot of birds, and with a creek running through the backyard we also got a good amount of waterfowl, including mergansers and nesting pairs of wood ducks. As for mammals, the basic Northeastern suburban fare--squirrels, groundhogs, foxes, white-tailed deer, raccoons, opossums, skunks.
just the other day i was walking around my yard early morning and i noticed a little brown streak running at me and it skidded to a stop and popped its head up and it was a weasel! that was a really awesome day

I have roos and emus and the rare dingo. I have seen about 100+ species so far. I live on a reasonably sized sheep station in the outback (100,000 + acres). I am a wildlife photographer irl so I am thrilled.
I photograph birds (and other wildlife when I get the chance) and here are some of my favorite shots.

I'm also on the "why the quokka?" train, but I recognise that Frontier has to include a meme animal. I will cling to the slither of hope that it's the Celebes macaque because we absolutely need more monkeys, but oh well, I know it probably isn't.

I'm obviously not convinced the exhibit animal is a lorikeet. I mean, come on. The orchid mantis would be an incredibly stupid inclusion, which is kind of why it's exactly what I expect.

Devil, kiwi, and third penguin are good though. I think the little blue is definitely an obvious choice for the penguin (people are putting too much emphasis on the name 'rockhopper' when the colour blue is the bigger hint - not just for the blue penguin, but also because the water blue penguins live in also tends to be blue, whereas the rockhopper lives in colder water which takes on a far less notable colour).

Also, I don't remember who in the last 10000 pages said that the blue drink was a hint for the kiwi because of kiwis are 'grey blue' but stop taking whatever you're taking. Kiwis are brown. Only one species has a remotely 'greyish' colour and not a hint of blue.

Yes. To. This.

I know most are thinking quokka, but what if it was the tree kangaroo? I mean, look at that somewhat demonic smile!
A few people have suggested it but it's probably not, for a couple of reasons:

1) The devil already has a complex rig, and when they put in a complex rig, they tend not to put in another one.
2) While tree kangaroos do 'smile', they are not known for it. There are no 'tree kangaroo selfies' around like there are with the quokka. Frontier always includes a meme animal where they can (three-toed sloth, sand cat, etc.). That's why I feel sure we'll get the Pallas cat before support ends, too. They think they're cashing in on a broad market by doing that.

I would much prefer the tree kangaroo, but IMO it's as likely as getting the lorikeet. When there's a far more obvious choice, that's usually what it is.

I like the Opsrey shot, it's a perspective I don't see often!

The gull is nice too, being eye level with the bird really gives a nice sense of being there.

I have posted a few recent shots up in the IRL thread. If I had to pick one to share tho..

Awesome Golden Eagle! (I think lol)

It’s funny because the seagull I was standing about five feet up on a little bridge getting that photo🤣

We saw a classic Red Fox run through our yard in the snow! He was huge and his paw prints were bigger than I thought. I tried to find where he had come from and went to but all I know is that he jumped a fence near our neighborhood at the time. After that we would leave out rotisserie chicken leftovers without ever trying to tame him of course...
