Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

I'm not sure how many times I've included "I'm happy for those who are happy" in my responses today - clearly, it's still not enough. Those who are able to enjoy this pack absolutely should, but on that same note I don't, and should also be allowed to express that. As it stands, I've got the first ever pack that I'm actually going to skip for the foreseeable future.

And there are at least a handful of options that were on the table that are varying degrees of common across the board - the rockhopper over the little penguin is a really obvious one. Crowned pigeon or black swan or echidna would've been nice. I could've even made do with the "wrong" tree kangaroo. I've gone so many months reading people's complaints about "too many" North American or temperate species, too many ungulate, too many carnivorans, whatever, it's really only fair that those on the other side be allowed to voice their discontent regarding this pack too.
Thats fair, buuuuuut on the other hand its hard to disagree on the fact that while oceania, one of the 4 most important zoo regions in the world (ironically japan is also one of them but also pretty yuck regarding the ethical side), has been consistently shafted since the release of the game, meanwhile NA was after SEA arguably the biggest winner, something thats good and very nice but still, oceania, the zoo region with the largest focus on local fauna had for over 3 years allmost none, only getting scraps here and there so the nr 1 most important thing is to get an oceania pack thats usefull to them, so lets analyse!

Tassie Devil: Kept everywhere, important for conversation, first marsupial carnivore, nr 1 on the meta wishlist
Kiwi: Extremly Popular, Nr 1 New Zealand animal, in every single one of their zoos, literally the only thing new zealanders have asked for, only dreaming of more
Little Blue Penguin: the thing new zealand dreamed about, only penguin held in oceania, which basicly means a completly new animal type for fairfull builders, very distinct in size, range and color
Quokka: Small Filler Animal, something very important oceania lacks, very popular with the general public and propaply rather easy to make, currently being activly exported to europe with a breeding plan to spread them throughout europe, making them pretty much a zoo species of the future here, also very common in oceanian zoos
Spectacled flying fox: all choices have no meaningfull international presence and they picked the one that looks the coolest and is still held in zoos, i can respect that.

If you dont look at this pack as an oceania pack for international zoos but for local zoos in oceania, it suddenly makes lots of sense and honestly even on an international scale these animals are all more then unique enough to warrant inclusion, much more so then another bear, cat, canid, antelope or whatever else animal group frontier will milk next.

But it would be better If you write "I do Not need them". Using "we" implicates that the Community does Not need them. And I think both, the Echidna and especially the Tree Kangaroo are species a Higher amount of people Here want to have and perhaps need to have.
I’m basically saying when I said that is that the continent is well represented now. We have like 15 animals from Oceania and Australia now, that’s pretty diverse. Yea it can be more diverse by adding those 2, but the continent is pretty wide spread diverse.

That's absolutely nothing compared to asia and Africa. I don't think Oceania needs that many but it should get like at least half of that. Especially considering its more taxonomically diverse than Asia as a whole.

Lol there's easily enough animals to make a third DLC from "Down Under" down the road:

1. Tree Kangaroo
2. Echidna
3. Black Swan
4. Perentie
5. Frilled Lizard (E)

But I'd have to agree with Charlie here. I think Australia/Oceania is really well set after this DLC, of course you can always add more, but this is such a jump from base game, I'm satisfied 😌
Rude of you not to include the Bilby, out greatest and cutest conservation success this decade lol

In my own opinion the Short Beaked Echidna and one Tree Kangaroo species are the Missing essential species to fullfill Oceania. For me it is Like Europe Missing the Wild Boar or North American Missing the American Black Bear in my opinion. These two species are very iconic and also popular and Look very distinct from current species. Everything else from Oceania like a Quoll or a Numbat for example would be nice to have. But this is just my opinion on that. Everyone surely has its own sight in the things.

North America already has the Grizzly bear though. Europe and South America lack their bears.
Spectacled Bear is more important to me than the ABB. I just made 2 examples with my Last post. And honestly I would like to See all 3 remaining Bear species (Sloth, ABB, Spectacled) within the Game. In case of the Eurasian Brown Bear I have an opposite opinion than you. We already have 2 subspecies of Brown Bear within the Game. I just do not need a third one. Especially since the other 3 species are Missing completely until now.

Edit: And it is time for a new bear coming to the Game soon in my opinion. The Last one we got was the Sun Bear 2.5 years ago.

is funny cuz even as a South american the Spectacled bear is not an animal i consider essential. Yes it is more interesting than other bears from the North but is not the most needed animal for SA representation. Is actually pretty low in my list of needs to make SA balanced and complete. I see it more like a nice extra. I objectively think the ABB is more important in terms of representation for the US than the spectacled bear is for SA. And i don't even care about getting the ABB.

Agreed. My point is, that so many much more interesting species (like the North American porcupine, wild turkey, American badger, white-faced coati amongst others) could be added that would flesh out North American sections rather than creating another carbon copy of a bear.

The Spectacled Bear was always an animal that I felt should be in the game, but not in the same conversation as SA representation. It just feels like an animal that would be in the game regardless to me for some reason.

I don’t need it to represent SA, I just want it because I want another bear and it’s the most unique out of the 3, and still adds to the SA roster, not the most representative, but still makes a difference.

Sure. I personally prefer the spectacled bear over the ABB or EBB. Plus i think is more fun to build for. But out of the remaining bears my number one is the sloth bear.

i think a lot of the need for spectacled bear comes from Zt2 nostalgia and maybe because apparently is common in the zoos of the northern hemisphere.
