Where Do We Go Now?

When enough folks have engineered their suits and weps, what then?
Refine them to strive for an even better set-up, personally I am just muddling along with stuff bought from the shop.

Where's the EDO economy vs Horizons?
I have no idea as economics has little interest for me.

The mission payouts on foot (sans mats) are poverty level at best. Why would anyone take foot missions if they are fully kitted?
From my point of view that question could be rewritten as “Why do people take missions other than for rank or permits?”

I consider myself basically fully kitted and I've only been playing a couple weeks or so in EDO.
I have been playing from release and don’t but what I have is enough for what I am enjoying doing.

I sell stuff from the carrier but that's not a viable economy as demand weens. I also don't notice mission payouts directly proportional with faction rep like the other mission board for ship based missions.
A friend has recently made considerable credits selling loot and rewards from his carrier which he started doing very recently and has stopped due to selling out.
See my comments above about missions.

I will add that I am aware of exobiology rewards. It seems all else can be done from the Horizons version.
I am not thinking about Odyssey and Horizons as separate, after all I can do what I was doing in Horizons while logged into Odyssey just like back in the day I could do what I used to do in the Base game in Horizons.

I like exobiology, a recent exploration and bio sampling run out near Colonia earned enough credits to buy several thousand tons of Tritium for the carrier even at Colonia prices not to mention finally getting me a pretty red space helmet.

Just shows that we all play our own way.

Because the foot stuff is way more varied and fun. If CR was ever a motivating factor for me the only thing I'd be doing is plant scanning, and yet I remain a lowly Compiler. I never did trade when that was the Big Thing at 10M CR a week either. 😄

My comment wasn't about running out of content. It was about a possible downward demand curve for materials. The on-foot missions should have attractive financial offerings if you're allied with the factions. These days I rarely take the mats from the Horizon mission board because I don't have room and they don't offer raw mats (that would be nice). I can imagine not wanting the mats from the on-foot board as well, so the Cr or rep offering would be the only attraction. At that point you'd do as well to do missions from your ship, financially.

Or perhaps if you are fully ranked and permitted, why would you take the mission for rank or permits?

I also have made a fortune selling materials. It's what I do now that I am kitted. I find it keeps me busy enough. It's odd though as the credits aren't from factions but from other commanders. It's great though, feels more fresh than the same missions and rewards.

I don't think of them separately while I am playing, but the game reminds you that, on the pad you're seeing the same mission offerings Horizon players see. If you want EDO missions you have to disembark. In that sense the game is thinking of the two differently. Other than turning in missions from the pad, we have no EDO interface AFAIK from station pads. It would be nice to be able to get on foot missions without needing to disembark. If that's already a thing I'm pretty ignorant of it.

Exobiology is growing on me (pun intended). Right now I take it as a target of opportunity when I scan a planet for a mission site and find biologicals, I often scout them out.

That may not have been meant as toxic, or your original post may have been misinterpreted as toxic. Such is the nature of text on a screen.

It's best to just take every response we can as kind and genuine. Those we can't should be reported. The moderators will sort them out :)
Big jobs!!!!!!!

The journey and end game are blazing your own path. Or joining forces on the path of a power/minor faction. Credits and engineering rewards are just the tutorial phase, something you'll be naturally done with.

Selling Odyssey suit and weapon mats can be extremely lucrative. I have mentioned this before somewhere, but with the increase in the cap, some mats go for 5 million a pop, others 1-2 million. It is well worth collecting the valuable stuff to sell on. You only need to sell a few mats and that is carrier upkeep for a week. Using Inara searching for buyers you can find who is willing to pay top dollar. In a five hour session a couple of weeks ago jumping around to various carriers, I made 1.6 billion. In another shorter session I made about half a billion. Jumping to a couple of carriers last night I think that I made a couple of hundred million.

So, once you have your suits and weapons, pick up mats as you go along whilst doing (often poorly paying) BGS activities, and earn yourself a crust to keep your carrier going.

I'm at 10 myself for that reason. If there's an assassination mission that isn't covert, I kill everyone except the drone. It's not his fault. I spit on his head like Josey Wales to the dog.
Do you do the same thing if a Goliath is present at the settlement?

I don’t, they were pretty much the only reasons I took missions since I started and now that I have finally reached Colonia and unlocked the ship engineers out there by choice and some of the others as a byproduct I doubt I will be picking up a mission again in ages.

I don’t believe it is but as I don’t do missions usually I wouldn’t know.

Well I was trying to find all of them until I reached Elite, now I hunt out valuable ones and ones I haven’t ticked off in the Codex when I am out exploring.

Inside our ships? ;) Seriously though you've hit upon the glaring issue with Odd I Say it has no connection AT ALL with the ships... now if you could use that fancy gear to board a ship/derelict or station/mega ship it would have made sense maybe one day (modding)
