Sadly they rarely get run this this beast any more though (no band/gigs any more):

The above basically goes into a stereo Marhsall 4x12 loaded with Vintage 30s.

Not got a picture of the bass sadly (Ibanez SDGR)

I very much want a Volante but haven't been able to justify it to myself yet!
I have been marinading the thought of getting it for months. And at last I couldn't take it anymore, I yearned to have it so badly. And now that I do I don't feel bad for spending that much on a delay pedal. Volante is truly something special, Strymon outdid even themselves.

Strymon do good shiz - although the only stuff of theirs that I own are Zuma & Ojai PSUs. Loved the El Cap when I borrowed it, and for drum weirdness I already have a Dawner Prince Boonar. Current home amp (Orange Dual Terror) doesn't have a loop so am a bit restricted with what I can do with fx.

Time to revive this. Rig update? Rig update. Still have my american standard strat, still my number one. But there have been additions to the family. Another blondie. Saw this 40th anniversary jazzmaster the other day, and couldn't resist. Also, a Gretsch baritone. Always wanted a baritone. 29 3/4 scale. It's long. "Pedalboard" is still a mess, more than previously. Will attempt to put it on an actual board some day, and get it all organized.

It is a sure fire sign I am an old man now. I also own a guitar I bought new that is going to be 30 years old next year. Well, parts of it are. My first "proper" eletric guitar (which I still own) is now over 40 years old, bought is used as a teenager around '89 or '90. My main has been a '99 maple necked Deluxe Super in Honey Blonde ever since I bought it, but the body and neck are the only parts left from its original state.

Edit: Also a sign of old age if you are unable to type without making a ton of errors.

Aye, I have a Jackson that I bought new in 1992, one of the Japanese 'Professional' line which was more solid than any of the USA Jacksons that I've owned at points! It's in bits currently but I really need to get it playable again.

Wow, it has been a hot minute since I've been to these places. How you doin', fellas? Keep the hobby alive. Post your awesome music therapy equipment(it is for me). Had some little changes to my setup here and there. Mostly housekeeping, really. Tidying things up, building everything onto an actual board. Got a cool Reverend baritone to replace the Gretsch bari. That's about it. Stay shredding, amigos.

Hardtail Strats are the way to go. Put .10s on for additional fun 🚀

Btw the bridge on the Strat looks odd. I have a black American Std. from '95 and the saddles look rather different, mine are more solid and flat. Yours looks like more like a classic one, did you replace it? Btw. nice rig, must sound overwhelming, but that Strymon hardware costs two grands for sure ;)

O7,
🙃

It's a two point trem, just no arm in the picture. It's not blocked off, I do prefer to have a functioning tremolo. And it is setup to float both ways. It's a standard trem Fender have been using for a while. This strat is from 2013 or somewhere in that area, one of the last years before they killed the American Standard series. Saddles are bent steel saddles, which are both more vintage and more common these days. And I do run gauge 10 on it usually, sometimes 11. Jazzmaster will probably move to 11 or 12 flatwounds. And baritone needs chungus gauges, because it's tuned so low. For now it's 12-68.
The rig sounds amazing. Everything from zelzah and up is in true stereo too. Having stereo chorus/phaser/delay creates some insane swirling, ping pong bouncing ambiances. I might record something.

Sponsored by Strymon :D. The Waza pedals weren't cheap either, probably :). Nice board. I'm shocked there is no tuner on it though. SHOCKED!

Personally, I could never justify it for myself to spend the money on Strymon stuff - as individual pedals, they always seemed to expensive for my taste. But then I always was more budget orientated, and I got into DIY in the 90s and build a lot of my stuff myself, and all of my guitars are on the affordable side - my most expensive one is a PRS SE Hollowbody II, which is a gorgeous and amazing instrument, more so for an instrument made in China (and shockingly expensive for MiC). But totally worth it.

As far as effects go, it all peaked in a 10 HE effects rack with two crammed pedal drawers, two TC Electronics rack processors (one G-Major 2 and one G-Sharp) and a custom build (i.e. built by me) MIDI-Switcher and Floorboard. Until it all got too heavy for my back, and I switched to a Helix for effects into my custom built (i.e. by me) tube amp. I only started dabbling into the amp sim stuff when Covid hit and I stopped playing out.

Strymon stuff is actually good value. It's expensive as a singular purchase in vacuum. But if you look for similar quality and features you're often looking at an equivalent of multiple pedals adding up to more money. I would say Iridium is somewhat overpriced, but it's in the same ballpark with other similar amp/cab sims in a pedal format like ACS1 and alike.
I use software tuner since this is a direct to interface rig.
Helix is cool. I'm stuck between two worlds. Ive embraced DSP sims, but I'm not ready to give up a feeling of turning analog knobs, and collecting pedals. I gave up on tube amps some time ago, it's just impractical. And DSP amplification reached a point where I can't tell a difference anymore. It sounds, plays, and feels like tubes.

Not bashing Strymon or you buying or it. Excellent stuff, just doesn't hold the value for me, because I am not that picky about delays and reverbs. On the other hand I happily paid almost 300 bucks for the Mini Vent II after I retired my Rotosphere because it's too bloody huge. Just can't live without a good leslie. Can live with a 30 buck Danelectro Vibe, though 😁

I stopped playing Elite some months ago. Realizing what 2,500+ hours of training does to your muscle memory, I decided to try to learn to play the guitar. I've been practicing for 4 months now, and even though I'm getting older, there is some sort of progress.

I was immediately fascinated by the guitar as a "thingy", and I have bought quite a few cheap guitars since then. I started with a Guild/Dearmond M-75T, because it was so cool looking, that you get inspired to pick it up and strum some chords.

Recently I stumbled upon an old Vision (MIJ) Strat from the Matsumoku factory. I had tried a few Strats and had walked away, but with this one it was love at first sight. It weighed 2.9 kg (6.4 lbs), and it was really comfy. On top of that it was dirt cheap.

The neck was kind of crap, and the frets were horrible, but a very good friend of mine gave me an old Vester neck that had more potential. He's an old luthier, and he's teaching me a lot about guitars. How to adjust and service them, the history of the guitar, and recently how to "build" them.

This is very much work in progress, sort of a "rolling project", but this is "my guitar" now:

Parts caster.jpg

The other day I found an old mint green pickguard at the shop where I buy strings etc. I bought it (cheap) before realizing that it was for HSS, so I'll mount a humbucker when I find one.

I have been working on fitting and shimming the neck to get the action better and also recutting the nut. Next I will paint the neck with nitro and I consider doing a matching headstock in the same olympic white as the body. I'll also get a new tremolo and some better tuners. The pots are tiny but they work perfectly, and it's nothing but a variable resistor, so they stay along with the caps. Currently the neck pickup goes straight to the output jack.

Stay tuned :alien:
