Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

But the most interesting part was that I didn't see any user comments about that aspect. Do SC fans have no concept of basic kinematics? Even intuitively, does it not seem completely wrong to them?
I used to comment about that but it was years ago. The whole flight model is a joke. It seems SC cultists just want an "arcade game experience" and a "6DoF shooter" where they can move without any physics harming their experience (I've seen a fair amount of Descent fans polluting the forums back then). Or maybe it's generous amounts of copium. Or both.

Yep, when they first highlighted their new ships with rotating thrusters I also commented... and after all this time they still have no concept of angular momentum, moment of inertia, centre of gravity. Having said that, I'm sure some of their devs know this stuff, but their game engine must be so incapable of basic physics, and they just have to pump out those ships as fast as they can. Those devs must cringe when they see these ships in action, just as we do.

One of the problem is, in fact their engine may be perfectly capable of doing it, but you need to build the game around that like FDEV did, I don't see how you can build a game and try and put proper physics in it when it's all but finished, that would just lead to bugs galore........oh hang on!

Yup, that was the obvious one, but there was so much more physics face-palming badness there as well. If I had those devs in a room, I'd feel compelled to explain everything to them step by step, in basic high-school physics fashion. My engineer's brain just couldn't keep quiet.

Nah, many fans just use the mandated party line and reduce most issues to a “it’s the servers” and leave it that. As if it was actually only a servers issue, or as if servers issues were trivial to resolve and not equally bad and broken.

I was actually impressed the engine fell off as a designed feature. Component damage is nice, how or why it fell off however is a different thing.
It's a space game I assume the ship has fly-by-wire and controls the actual flight, but still how the ship clear floats (not hover) as scripted animation and nothing to do with simulating engine thrusts. It's why I've never really been interested in the game. Back in 2016 I browsed through their collectoin of ships and so many of them didn't make sense, its too magic tech for me.

Weird thing is that if you freeze one of the frames you actually get to see the underlying tech at work which explains everything. It's quite amazing actually, hats off to CIG.

Today, CIG changed their Terms Of Service.

Here are a few key changes I've spotted (using a webpage comparison site)...

Refunds are now allowed for any "pledge items" upto 30 days after they've been delivered. This can easily be argued in a refund request as "I backed star citizen and bought ships because I was told Pyro was coming for exploration gameplay". Grab your popcorn 🍿

The bannings will continue until morale improves. This section was added:

Anything that offends RSI employees?

Considering Jared gets offended when people ask "when", that's a pretty huge brush they've given themselves to paint with.

Hold on, how do we know which are RSI employees and which are employees of CIG's other companies?
