Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

If the bladder icon ever gets into t0, I hope Casablanca sells Maximum Absorbency Garments for the busy bounty-hunter, wheeled miner and other citizens who can't just Answer the Call of Nature. Multi-colored versions available in the pledge store and selected loot boxes.

It probably depends on the resource system and Pipes 3.11 to model the conversion into biowaste packages that will then create missions for other players to pick up.
Something something Quantum.

From looking through spectrum and plebbit, it seems the dummy jump points were all it took to get the community in dream mode again. Even J3PT is shocked by how fast the community spun around.

Given this thing is just a prop, as dead as any dead rock prop on any SC planet surface, J3PT is basically hedging his bets for the likely case there is still no actual jump mechanics or Pyro anywhere in the short or medium term at least. He just wants to be prepared for the inevitable « I told you so » he’ll have to impart if the “But, where is Pyro?” keep coming.

Lol! Was just reading CR’s recent response letter blaming the 3rd party database latest patch being a ‘step backwards’… and I can see it clearly; when the DB engineers saw what crap Star Citizen was attempting to hammer it with, they quickly made a release which had additional checks put in to eliminate previously unheard of ridiculous queries!
I can imagine CR being peeved with them when they suggested CIG clean up their code.
I’ve done similar with my projects if assets have been delivered not according to spec, sometimes you adapt to work around it or if exasperated, then I build in a reject to force it to get fixed.

Those 1 star Glassdoors keep coming...

Zero support or structure. Staff are not treated well.

Recommend ❌
CEO Approval ❌
Business Outlook ❌

Pros
- Great coffee. - No expense spared with the office unless it’s for staff parking, then they don’t want to pay. - Talented junior staff who don’t know any better.

Cons
- The processes used to create content are non existent. - No concrete documentation or direction for content. - They will check and compare your overtime hours which are not immediately paid and have to be cashed at a later date. - Crunch is endless. - Staff’s mental health or work life balance is not respected. You are simply meat for the grinder. - They won’t pay for your parking space in the office car park in a busy and expensive city centre. Only staff who were there when the office move took place receive this luxury. - At director level or above the egos are out of this world. No sense of camaraderie or team spirit, you are beneath them and you will feel like it. - Will simply force out staff that they don’t like. - Don’t expect help or support. Even if you’re new, they will throw you in the deep end, let you drown and then blame you for it.

Advice to Management
Treat your staff better.

Seriously ? You give credit to what you read at Glassdoor ? Anybody can write anything...

Those 4 and 5 stars Glassdoors keep coming (as reliable than the 1 star reviews  )...

As has been discussed many times, Glassdoor is always to be taken with a massive shovel of salt. It can be gamed by gamers. It can be stuffed with 'Keep doing what you're doing' PR by companies etc.

But consistency over months is always intriguing. (And personally I find consistent criticisms + random gripes about stuff like parking start to attain a certain verisimilitude ;))

---

But we can get philosophical about it if you like.

Like: How much should we trust claimed devs discussing Glassdoor on the wider internet?...

I'm a dev' and on glassdoor if we post anonymously it's not for nothing...

here is your answer the author, few (fortunately there are still some) dare to speak because apart from ruining opportunities elsewhere they have little chance that criticism will be to their advantage

and then the project is not finished, at any time the game recovers and the development finally looks like something; it would be stupid to spit on something that still has cards to play

otherwise I see that it talks a lot about "scam" on this forum but I don't think it's all very serious... such a big scam, on a kickstarter with several million and with as many assets (employees) It wouldn't take very long to pass for what it is...
no really, SC is a badly managed project, not someone who has absolutely no ability to lead a AAAA game project in modern times or any project of this magnitude must be impeccably put together and directed

As someone who's worked at 2 of the larger game studios on 2 of the biggest games in PC history (and has continued to work in the software space for quite awhile): don't look at the numbers and things you see on Glassdoor as gospel. They can sometimes be a helpful metric when comparing to other companies, but the reality is the numbers on Glassdoor may have no real connection to the truth.

As a point of context: Glassdoor having an average of $100k for a position doesn't mean that's even close to what people are actually paid for it. The salary could be literally $170k by the time you negotiate. From everything I've heard CIG does pay lower than average, but it's not so substantially low that people don't want to work there, since their culture seems to be vastly better than a lot of big studios.

Then again, that's only been true the past few years...until then the corporate culture seemed like a nightmare, when CR was doing basically anything he wanted with the money coming in and they weren't really producing much.

Dunno man. Up to you. ¯\(ツ)

Me, I'll just keep noting the patterns ;)
