Bigscreen Beyond - anyone got one yet ?

I'm thinking of getting back into VR with the Bigscreen Beyond.
I've had an Oculus Rift CV1 and an HP Reverb 1.
Both of which I gave up on, firstly horrendous screen door effect, and secondly unadjustable IPD, but lots of other issues as well.

From the reviews I've seen the Bigscreen Beyond would seem to be the perfect solution for ED.
Small and comfortable, good colour, perfect black no screendoor or mura .. etc.

So, has anyone managed to get one yet and play ED on it ?
I realise on-foot Odyssey is non-VR, but I do mostly exploration and that is where I did most of my VR stuff.

I'm using Pico4 headset. It's also pancakes lenses, quite lot of adjustments and no cable needed to play in ED in session duration time 1,5 hours. After that i plug charger and continue to play.

Had experience with HP Reverb v2. Two cables goes to scrap and it's was quite expensive for me.

You'll want local dimming or OLED for Elite if going for a high end VR headset today basically the Pimax Crystal, Bigscreen Beyond or wait for the VR1. Valve might have something soon but who can tell with Valve your guess is as good as anyone's....

This headset does look interesting for 900 dollars. Won't be released till January I think.

Interesting

Might actually tempt me to try VR

If it's no good for ED I may consider giving DCS a go as I'm pretty sure ED is getting close to EOL

I have just unboxed one. It is very promising, if I can get it to work. Image quality is way better than my Index. Only problem is an intermittently flickering grey screen every 5-20 seconds which makes it nearly useless. This may be a function of my setup or a faulty unit, but their CS is working with me to try to resolve it.

Keep us updated on how you get on. Thanks.
I haven't taken the plunge yet.

Been using the Beyond for over a month now and it has given me a renewed love for Elite after not playing for a year or 2.. Coming off an Index it is a great upgrade. The visuals are very crisp and clear. The comfort is much better although the new type of facial interface does take some getting use to, but no more brick hanging off your head is a great feeling in vr. The one downgrade is the fov, but it really isn't bad at all. The smaller fov actually makes the "on foot" better because you don't notice the grey borders as much. There is also some glare in certain scenarios but it's not a big problem for me. Highly recommend.

I have the bigscreen beyond and a Quest 3, Elite looks amazing with the Beyond. It takes a little bit of adjusting to find the sweet spot but once you do it's absolutely beautiful and its very light, feels so much different than any other headset. The FOV is very close to the Quest 3 and the colors and blacks look so much better, OLED should be the standard IMO.

I know this is a bit old but for those that have the Beyond, what are your SteamVR and ED settings with which hardware?

I have a i5-12600K, 32GB DDR4, RTX 4070 and currently play at 44% (2360*2360) SteamVR resolution.
Here is my custom graphic preset, I am still trying to improve it.

Code:
<RenderOptions PresetName="VRHigh">
    <FOV>60.000000</FOV>
    <TextureQuality>2</TextureQuality>
    <TextureQualityEx>2</TextureQualityEx>
    <LODDistanceScale>1.000000</LODDistanceScale>
    <AAMode>0</AAMode>
    <DirectionalShadowQuality>2</DirectionalShadowQuality>
    <SpotShadowQuality>1</SpotShadowQuality>
    <AOQuality>1</AOQuality>
    <BlurEnabled>false</BlurEnabled>
    <BloomQuality>0</BloomQuality>
    <EnvmapQuality>1</EnvmapQuality>
    <MaterialQuality>2</MaterialQuality>
    <EnvironmentQuality>2</EnvironmentQuality>
    <FXQuality>1</FXQuality>
    <ParticleEffectsQuality>1</ParticleEffectsQuality>
    <GalaxyMapQuality>2</GalaxyMapQuality>
    <SSAAMultiplier>1.000000</SSAAMultiplier>
    <UpscalingQuality>1</UpscalingQuality>
    <DOFEnabled>0</DOFEnabled>
    <TerrainQuality>3</TerrainQuality>
    <TerrainLodBlendingQuality>1</TerrainLodBlendingQuality>
    <GpuSchedulerMultiplier>0.0</GpuSchedulerMultiplier>
    <SurfaceMaterialQuality>2</SurfaceMaterialQuality>
    <SurfaceSamplerQuality>2</SurfaceSamplerQuality>
    <JetConeQuality>3</JetConeQuality>
    <VolumetricsQuality>2</VolumetricsQuality>
    <TextureFilterQuality>3</TextureFilterQuality>
    <TerrainCheckerboardRenderingEnabled>true</TerrainCheckerboardRenderingEnabled>
</RenderOptions>

I've been only exploring so far so I had limited exposure to busy combat scenes.
It's been good so far but i experience stutter on certain planets.
So far I have noticed it creates "late start" on the CPU (within the advanced frame timing charts from SteamVR) which I am trying to understand if the limiting factor is really the CPU or still GPU related. CPU usage is around 20% I believe? But I know this is trickier to assess than a simple percentage.

Taken the plunge at last. With the Pimax Crystal Light.
Mostly because of the price, availability and strong recommendations.
Will take some tweaking, but pleased with it so far.
