Newcomer / Intro Been playing 7 years and still don’t fully understand how to pay fines :-(

Ok… I will try not to rant any more than I have already in the title. But I just started playing again after a 3 month break, and I picked up a fine when docking at Li Qing Jao for having “illegal cargo”. Ok, no problem… I have half a billion credits to my name, where do I pay?

The fine is from Federal Congress, and the game tells me I can pay it off “via the administrative contact at any station where this faction is present”. Well, that’s this station then… the station where I was issued the fine by Federal Congress. I can see in the mission boards (on foot) that they have a presence here.

But when I go into Contacts > Local Administrative Contact, I‘m told I don’t have any fines to pay and I can’t even hand myself in.

Is it 'cos you are on foot? Does the fine appear to be able to be paid when you are back in your ship?

Just guessing 'cos I am a goody-two-shoes and can't remember the last time I got a fine. ;)

No, I landed in my ship and can’t pay the fine from my ship. And I just checked: from my ship I can get to the mission board, even though no missions are available, and can see Federal Congress are there. I only got out on foot to see if there was another way to pay.

I think I’ve been here a few years before and been told it’s a bug (that will never be fixed), and the only solution is to travel to the nearest Interstellar Faction to pay the fine.

Find IF in a system where the faction is not present. Or, try relogging first to see if you can pay it at the initial station.

I just asked this question and with the help of great commanders I figured it out. See "fine and bounty" a few threads down the list
