Can we get Apex shuttles aka taxi's travel to Fleet Carriers?

I think since fleet carriers are mobile, shuttles wouldn't be doable. Imagine someone calls a shuttle to your carrier and you jump before they arrive. There's no mechanic currently for "welp, you can get out here or pay for a ride back". Also, carriers can have a several different permissions settings that prevent anyone but the owner from landing, or just teammates, or just friends, or no one notorious, etc. I thought it would be great to get a ride to my carrier also, but considering those things I cannot see that happening.

You can actually redirect Apex in flight. Might have to add some extra behaviour for the pilot to fly in a circle and say 'Well, this is awkward'.
It would be nice to be able to purchase a ship from a station in a system where your carrier resides, and have the autopilot fly it to your carrier (magically appears, no real flying needed tbh). So you show up in a high tech system and you buy a Corvette, you select all the modules you want from the comfort of your carrier, and you get the build time. When that time elapses that ship shows up in your hangar. Different idea than the OP but not deserving of a thread.

A FC Apex service would be nice so that you can take an Apex shuttle from your FC also.

You know what's missing in the usefulness of Apex shuttle service? The ability to travel to Fleet Carriers in system that have docking access set to ALL and have no jump planned. Once that changes, then return to the nearest outpost, planetary base or starport.

Fly to FC, log off for weekend, log back in at Beagle Point, now that's fine if you wanted to go there, but you Apex'd in so you have no ship to fly back in, if the FC doesn't sell ships you can't buy one, and because you are on foot you can't suicide, oh dear!

help-unstuck ;)

Shame they didn't do this - was discussed in detail when they added FC interiors and the usual nits were picked. Could have worked, but I doubt fdev will be going back and retro-fitting this.

Hop in FC escape pod, you get teleported to last station, you're fine...?

glances at those escape pods (which totally aren’t magic teleportation devices)

Yeah forgot about those, although I did hear quite a while back from a few people who did use them that the "last place docked" can be a bit of a gamble as to where it actually is. Have they been extensively tested?

Hm... good question. I've been at a bit of a loose end in the game of late so maybe I'll give some a try :)

Used one once when I had an issue where the ship I had just worked on at a base and then flew to the carrier vanished back to the base leaving me stuck on foot in the carrier which I didn't realise until after I had jumped the carrier. The escape pod took me back to the base where my ship was.

So 100% success rate but probably an insufficient sample size for the real world.

Well, with escape pods and Menu Stuck Recovery, i dont think there are any issues (in this regard) that keep them from implementing Apex to Carriers.
So there could be other issues (either technicalities and/or financial)

Anyway, it's not something that i really miss or that i really want.

things can get tricky if the last placed docked is a carrier that is not yours and that switches from allowing you to dock to not allowing after you leave that carrier
it could get even more complicated if you leave your ship there (due to taking an apex from that carrier) and they block you from docking

so if they didn't designed the entire logic flow of carrier dockings to take into account the potential introductions of Apex shuttles that happened one year later...
or if they didn't designed Apex logic to include carriers landings from the beginning...

... it's not like it's going to happen, especially since it's not a game breaking issue the fact that Apex and Carriers do not mix

I concur, but there are use cases where being able to Apex to my carrier would have come in handy at times.

Imagine escape podding to a station, taking missions. Would it let you take missions if you didn't have a ship?

Not ship based missions but there are several varieties of on foot missions that don’t require you to land in the middle of nowhere which could be done using an Apex shuttle theoretically.

apex is a shuttle to take you from planet within od planets.3 jumps max,fc has no concept of that, use the shuttle to move around but to get back fc you need youre ship.no other way around.you can change direction while in shuttle to another system.but how often ive never tried.interested if you can get far.
