Winter 2023 PDLC speculation

Today marks the start of new LQAs for JWE2 on the game’s update history in the SteamDB, and there’s always new LQA several weeks (about a month before a dino pack’s announcement, and about a month and a half before an expansion pack’s announcement) before a new PDLC’s release. I haven’t learned yet that it’s true for their past games, including JWE1, but I’m sure it was the same in a respective extent.

At first I thought there would be four DLC packs this year like before, but I’m pretty sure now it will be only three, with the latest pack release pushed earlier than usual, and no expansion pack in the summer because of the 30.th anniversary update celebration.

Right now though, I feel this will be a new expansion pack after nearly a year without one, because of the timing of the LQA updates being similar to last year’s last expansion. Based on how they make their PDLC expansions for this game, my best guesses are either a “Camp Cretaceous” or “Site B” themed expansion pack.

(Update: The year name has been accurately changed to “2023”. Thank you for whom ever did it.)

Sigh... we haven't even got the Fall DLC yet...
I don't think there will be one, because of the plans made for this year. The anniversary celebrations and update took the place of an expansion pack, and that the marine dino pack, which would've been a Fall PDLC in a normal schedule, was pushed up to August to fill in the PDLC content gap(s) in some way. Especially since the LQA update times on the game's SteamDB are different than last year's.

They better add Microceratus, and it is doubtful whether the other novel-exclusive species be added.

We are running out of time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Jurassic Park film. The decorations from the update do not count.

I think they already did their part for the anniversary, because they said that their DLC packs, while releasing during the overall anniversary celebrations, will not be directly part of those celebrations. Also, I don’t believe they will make any DLC that is novel themed at all, because the books by Michael Critchton aren’t part of the main Hollywood owned film series, like everything else here is based on. I know I see lots of requests or hope for such thing on Reddit, Twitter, and YouTube, but just because it is seemingly highly requested on the vocal internet, doesn’t necessarily mean they will or should do it.

If anything, my best guess is Microceratus is being saved for a Site B expansion pack, and don’t be surprised that if it is, it will be the one and only new species it will introduce, because of what I’ve learned with all their JWE game PDLCs.

The decorations are just disappointment; the film and the games are made from the novels.

Well, what did you expect from a free DLC based on a movie that's been completely exhausted of usable ideas? They weren't going to add anything that wasn't in the movie, and what we got was basically all that was left.

the film and the games are made from the novels.
The film is based on the novel... but the game is based on the films. It's entirely plausible Universal doesn't want Frontier to reference the novel canon and only focus on the movie one.

Based on the timing of the LQA update, and assuming a 6-7/8-9 week rule, it leans towards an Expansion, the December DLCs so far range from the 8th to 20th of December, an animal pack should be the 1st-7th, whereas an expansion should be the 15th-22nd (that said breaking patterns is something they seem to like doing after we come across them).

Assuming an expansion, some type of Asian theme is looking plausible, with Socotra from the Dominion prologue, Microceratus, Tarbosaurus and the notion of Jurassic Park Japan available for it. I could see some novel elements blended in, like a treehouse remote gallery/hotel or non-Asian species.

Mantah Corp's bio-domes are the other main theme. They'd have base game biome small circle maps, and maybe even include a new plant set or two, like that of Socotra. The CC species and JWE1 hybrids should fit seamlessly, though it is a fairly generic theme for other stuff too.

Keep your eyes open if there is an announcement on the new DLC.

Just so you know; Apatosaurus, Cearadactylus, Dryosaurus, Euoplocephalus, Maiasaura, Microceratus, and Styracosaurus appeared and are listed in the original novel. These species are then included in this game. Currently, Microceratus is the only one that is not included even as the fans and other players are demanding this species since its debut in the film Jurassic World: Dominion. The whole franchise starts off as a novel.

I was expecting a DLC that a number of us are willing to pay for that includes new species.

If the game is based on the movie canon, then look at this

We are missing two species, and the decorations are just a joke. Even if we got the decorations for free, I am not appreciating them.

I would like an Big Expansion with at least 4 new species and 2 Attractions.
1. Some Kind of Boattour
2. Some kind of (Semi-)Submarine Tour
3. Gondola Ride for the aviaries too!
4. Waterfalls as Placeable objects, like "natural Fountains"
5. Big rocks and New natural looking skins for the Rockplattform and lagoonfountains !
6. Kelbforest as Placeable object.
7. Jeeps get tranque. rifles too for sandbox.
8. Walking animation for Some Pterosaurs
9. A few lux skins for some Pterosaurs.
10. Rangerbody for FPV mode.

From what I've seen, I believe all of JWE2's expansion packs will be based on the film continuity, the main series of Jurassic World/Park, with campaigns designed to fit within that said continuity from a storytelling perspective. So, excluding certain operation structures like some the BioSyn ones for example, expect any expansion's content to be built to fit within that continuity. After all, that's what JWE2's director, Newbold, confirmed for the DFW campaign shortly after the game launched in a Newsweek interview article, and it's implied in his words that only the Chaos Theory mode games are the alternate reality games. So, it's no doubt the two Dominion campaigns are built in that former way based on how their stories are designed, and I can almost guarantee they'll do the same with future expansion stories.

It is a good point, Chaos theory is around to explicitly contain "What If" scenarios. That said it's a pretty blurry line, with Chaos Theories just really being single map Campaigns.

In terms of a JP: Japan Chaos theory, the book cover and original artworks seem like they'd be enough for the menu and prologue. The novel does have a significantly different Hammond, it might be interesting to have a different portrait too, but young Cabot would probably be the main face.

Assuming a new whole building set for campaign, then the Chaos theory would probably be in mainland Japan with the normal Jurassic Park set.

The company is having layoffs and might affect jwe2 look at bestinslot video. certain things from the movies they can’t add licensing agreements problems especially legal ones too if a company like ford or someone who made jp fences may not want their product in games
