Do you ever feel like why do you even bother playing this game! When they first released Odyssey I left it well alone as of the poor game play, releasing at least 6 months before they should have. So getting back into it as they have changed the goal posts in the new Elite rankings! So I'm out exploring and find a lovely system with double platinum hotspots, so I open my other commander account on my other pc and send that Cmdr there to earn some money while I'm exploring (mining inbetween supercruise while mapping planets) and gets to hotspot and flies around for nearly an hour and not one rock has any platinum in a double overlapping hotspot! I'm pretty much a placid fella but this has got my blood boiling!

Is this a case of trying to do the wrong type of platinum mining (laser mining vs. core mining) in the wrong type of ring (metallic vs metal-rich) ?
I'm laser mining in a metal rich ring?
Yeah, platinum can only be laser mined in metallic rings. Platinum hotspots that show up on metal-rich rings are only good for core mining.
I've beem using my pulse scanner their also and there is no platinum cores showing up either.
Cores can be 20km to 30km and more apart.
