Here’s something fun:
  1. Remove ONE animal from each DLC and place it in the base game.
  2. Fill the empty spot in the DLC with a new animal.
Here’s my go at it:

It’s a really nice idea but if you’d remove most popular animals from the past packs their sales would fail 🤷🏽
For this to work you should remove least popular animal like caiman from aquatic pack or thompson’s gazelle from deluxe.

I agree that removing key species from dlc is generally a bad idea and go with the less popular animals

Arctic - move Dall sheep to base game and replace with musk ox
South America - move llama to base game and replace with Brazilian tapir
Australia - move southern cassowary to base game and replace with perentie
Aquatic - move Cuvier's dwarf caiman to base game and replace with walrus
Southeast Asia - move Malayan tapir to base game and replace with Sumatran orangutan

My picks are probably going to be controversial since I'm not always automatically going with the most popular picks to add to the BG, but here we go:

Deluxe, add Pygmy Hippo to BG, replace with Blackbuck
Arctic - add Arctic Wolf to BG, replace with Wolverine (the BG did not have a lot of canines)
South America - add Llama to BG, replace with Squirrel Monkey
Australia - add Red Kangaroo to BG, replace with Grey Kangaroo
Aquatic - add King Penguin to BG, replace with Mute Swan
SEA - add Babirusa to BG, replace with Malayan Tapir. I said what I said. But for alternate less snarky answer, Sulawesi Bear Cuscus
Africa - add White Rhino to BG, replace with Hamadryas Baboon
North America - add Moose to BG, replace with American Black Bear
Europe - add Alpine Ibex to BG, replace with Wild Boar
Wetlands - add Capybara to BG, replace with Shoebill
Conservation - add Przwalski's Horse to BG, replace with Northern Hairy Nosed Wombat
Twilight - add Common Wombat to BG, replace with Aye Aye
Grasslands - add Blue Wildebeest to BG, replace with Secretary Bird

Notable additions to BG (or at least I think they're notable) - adding in 2 Penguins, 3 animals (including the LBP) to Oceania, and 3 animals (inlcuding King Penguin) to South America. It helps somewhat.

Notable replacements - 3 more animals from Oceania, 2 more animals from South America, and 2 more birds.
