Docking Computer issues

Some updates ago the docking compuer begun to change its docking behavior. It entered the space station slightly diagonal alighned and corrected this miss-allighnment a moment before flying through the mail slot. Now with the latest update things become even worse. The docking computer approaches the landing pads and the mail slots very diagonal by around 45 degreees wrong and is also landing to the pad on an outpost like this. Even with my tiny Cobra. 👀

I’ve noticed some idiosyncrasies as well. I’ve not landed at a station for ages but I now land at an angle on my FC and when landing on an angled planetary surface it occasionally tries to land the ship upside down!

edit for really bad speelling!

Yes, just another of the bugs that they introduce (and re-introduce) every "update". Very disappointed that what is basically "more 'goid stuff" mucks up so much else - this, the mission boards and the cops firing on you whilst scanning being the most annoying for me.

To be fair this one seems to have been introduced by the fix requested by those players who didn’t like the computer flying the ship at an angle to the station slot.

If so then that would reflect even worse on the devs - surely they would do at least some QA testing of their "fix" before chucking it into the spaghetti-pot.

yes, the mission board is broken too. when i want to grab a bunch of transport missions after any single mission I grab I have to select the transportage tab again.

I'm not blaming them for the wrong thing, I'm blaming them for introducing it as a bug in the update 'cos of poor QA - not for the first time.
I get the feeling they have one mega algorithm for docking all ships. One standard algorithm with parameters for ship mass, thrust, etc. Rather than separate algorithms for different sizes or types of ships. Because whenever one ship gets tweaked to be better, other ships that were just fine seem affected and behave differently.

Edit: I don't pay much attention to the NPC ships, but do they sometimes miss the mail slot and bounce off the station walls too?

The docking computer is completely moronic when auto-launching and likes to dodge incoming ships by diving and crashing under the slot.

Step 1 - Thrust vertically to station axis
Step 2 - Roll to match mail slot
Step 3 - Check if path is clear
Step 4 - Thrust forward

Not that hard, guys. Fix the code already.

Don’t bother to check path to axis.
Don’t bother to check path is clear again after thrusting.

I was in the middle of downloading Horizons 4.0 (no trivial feat on my rural internet) when I started reading about all the bugs this latest update (re)introduces, and let's just say that download is paused indefinitely. It also pulls the handbrake on the mild temptation to buy Odyssey during the current Steam sale.

I mean, seriously, the "police shooting at you" bug is back? That bug is like 500 years old! It's stuff like this that makes me lose sympathy for Frontier's (as a company) current financial situation...

Other than the game breakers, I actually enjoy the time period when crazy stuff is happening with authority ships and markets and such. Remember that update that caused imperial slaves to be desired by black markets at outposts for like 100x their going rate? Something crazy like that. Then there was the one where delivery missions for basically nothing were paying 50m each and you could stack them.

Docking computers are pointless to begin with, but why on "planet of your choice" would you need one in a cobra, and why in the name of Quetzalcoatl's feathrery gonads waste an internal on it?..
