Fourth Anniversary

Next week we will know what the fourth anniversary animal will be. If it were a:

Bird: I would like it to be the helmeted guineafowl or the ocellated turkey. I wouldn't care if it's some kind of pelican either.

Reptile: I would like to see the Alligator snapping turtle in the game. Other options could be the rhinoceros viper, spiny devil or the Chinese crocodile lizard

Mammal: One of my wishes is to see the Saiga antelope. Other options could be the black-footed ferret, the Ethiopian wolf and, as an aquatic animal, I would like to see the southern elephant seal

I hope this animal is a surprise for everyone.

If it is a bird I would like it to be the Gray crowned crane. Which in my opinion should be in the base game from the beginning.
Yes, please. It's my number one bird missing. It feels like it should have been added before the red crowned crane somehow 😅 But I just checked and the Red Crowned is indeed more common where I live. Funny, that I always only remember seeing the Gray Crowned Crane.

I'd also take another Flamingo instead. to be honest. American Flamingo preferably.

How do you feel about a vicuna as an anniversary animal? It's similar to the llama, jet different enough and it has a great conservation story behind. They are also common in zoos and would boost a lacking South America representation in the base game.
Would be cool but if we get some South American rep for the anniversary I think the Rhea is better.

I’m all in for both vicuña or guanaco. It would be really great addition and could benefit from spitting behavior introduced with the arid pack.

Bat-eared Fox, Grey Fox, Tanuki, Any new species of Bear, Masai or Rothchild's Giraffe, Grevy's Zebra, any new crane, Black Howler Monkey, any Spider Monkey, any tortoise, Nilgai or any other antelope
if its not one of those, I may be sad... :(

I am also of the opinion that these could be animals from South America, North America or Europe, in that order of preference.

South America (in order of probability) : Coati, Mara, Rhea, Vicuna, Ocelot, Bush Dog
North America (in order of probability) : American Black Bear, Coyote
Europa (in order of probability) : Wild Boar, Alpin Marmot

But I would put a post on a large bird among : Secretary Bird, Shoebill, Great White Pelican, Mute Swan, Marabou Stork, Grey Crowned Crane
With a preference perhaps for the Great White Pelican and the Grey Crowned Crane.

Do we know approximately when the announcement could come?

Lots of these would be great choices! Come on bush dog!

However, coati, pelican or Secretary bird will not be the anniversary animal.

If there was an anniversary animal I would be happy with whatever it's going to be. Whether it's a brand new type of animal or a reskin. At the end of the day its a free animal which Frontier don't have to provide. It's like a second chance for an animal that could have gotten a place through the base game or a later DLC but lost out because it was similar to another - like the B+W lemur (base) and later the red deer (europe).

So its possible it could be this little one...

Very interesting question came to mind. If this anniversary animal will fill in gaps of the roster from the base game, is it more important to fill in the continents of the game (e.g the deer gave us base game europe rep) OR the variety of the species of animal (e,g. the deer was our first deer in the base game.)

Honestly fill in regions with little to no animals. I had to buy the South America pack because it bothered me so much the lack of animals from there when I first got the game in January
