Fourth Anniversary

The criteria is:
  • relatively easy to make
  • not flashy enough to headline a dlc
  • fills some gap or adds value to the base game in a manner that may convince a new player to join the game
+ can’t be an animal that we got or will get in the surrounding fall and winter packs. We didn’t get a primate in through NA or EU packs, and we didn’t get a deer in grasslands and twilight.

So far, Europe and Madagascar got anniversary animals. Oceania and Africa just got their own packs, and Asia had some decent rep in the spring pack. I think the next one, if we get one, is likely to be from NA or SA, maybe Asia?

NA has a few icons that would not require much effort. As much as I want the ABB, I'd be surprised if it were an anniversary animal because I think the color morphs could be used to help sell a pack. A lot of packs recently include at least one animal with a bunch of color morphs (Dromedary, Lar Gibbon, Red Fox, Fallow deer). Even the blue penguin and kiwi came with a few. I do think it will turn up in some kind of temperate pack, hopefully with some NA scenery. I really want cabins/camping as well as something for at least one of the Native American communities. It's a little odd that there's nothing yet.

SA desperately needs to catch up to other continents. The lack of base game SA primates seems like the most glaring omission in my eyes. They are so popular in zoos worldwide! There are also some great options for SA birds. I think something from SA is most likely, unless the winter pack will be neotropical animals. In that case, I could see them adding a takin or something so people don't get too upset about the lack of goats. Maybe a blackbuck because people were also talking about Indian rep? A SA animal, especially a monkey, would make the most sense for an anniversary gift. As much as I hope for tamarins, I think it would be something lower effort, like the squirrel monkey. It's not an exact clone to the capuchin, but it seems pretty close.

Frontier loves making reptiles, though. My other guess is the African spurred tortoise. My hope is the blackbuck, though.
But reptiles are not that popular (outside of the Forum) within the general public. Frontier loves reptiles and they Always do Well with them. But I think a Mammal (Blackbuck is within my Top 3 guesses) seems more realistic. Birds could also be an option but I think a bird would be only one Close relative of the birds already within the Game Like the Nandu, Grey Crowned Crane (which I would say could be a really realistic guess) or another Flamingo.

Free oceans expansion with 75 fish species, sea otter, beluga, orca, bottle-nosed dolphin, walrus and manatee plus a new kind of aquatic exhibit and new maps representing coastal areas of every continent.
Yeah, that's never going to be free lol. Maybe that could be the last DLC though

I actually don't care what animal we get. If we get nothing, that's fine too.

The biggest gift Frontier could give me would be if five more folders appeared in the Ovl folder (four for new DLCs in 24 and one the anniversary).
While I doubt this would happen, yeah, I'd gladly take this over any gifted animal, especially given the fact that due to the current situation I'd rather pay for a well made pack then hold my hands open for something for free this year.

Funnily enough I used our first free animal just now the first time and haven't used the second one ever.

We still know nothing about the anniversary animal of 2023, but I hope about a habitat bird, since we have few, only 10 species in the game.

Even if it is not a bird, I will accept it and it will have a place in my virtual zoo!

I think, an anniversary mini-pack would be fine and we would get multiple animals to the base game.
