Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I am one of the three people that actually liked it. It had a great take on cyberpunk and corporations. Shooting was OK, while the lore was really well written.
Absolutely superb co-op multiplayer as well - but I was never able to get on the internet as the same time as those three other people to get a full team 😅 Still pretty good with one other though 😁

The story/lore was by Richard K. Morgan who you might have head of from the Altered Carbon novels.

Apparently CIG have created their own multband compressor

As opposed to... you know, just buying one from the market out of the dozens that already exist.

CIG reinventing the wheel again.

I liked this image under one of the "NPC gangs will protect my hauler in Pyro SOON!" dreams:

They're going to call for Private Groups and Solo mode next.

Nah, they will just put their faith in the Crime System Rework version 10 (tier 0) and the indistinguishable 10 to 1 NPC to player ratio that Genuine Roberts promised them. Because only Chris can do what no other MMO dev has ever done, provide a single playground where both PvPers and PvEers play happily together and everyone gets what they want from the game. CIG just need a bit more time and money.

Buy an Idris or two.

Well, in the event he can’t I am quite sure they can go to the original idea of having instances and a pvp slider, right?

I’m quite sure the pvp crowd wouldn’t mind a bit of bait-and-switch to keep the project going…

Imagine Todd Papi: I know in the past we talked about having a single shard and stuff… but we are not going to have anything like that… We as developers want… your choices matter!! we will design a system that will analyze your choice of pvp and pve and put you in the correct shard according to your preference and the kind of missions you want to have

Man that would be delicious… a delusional dream… but delicious nonetheless.

P.S Yep… I’m still butthurt due to the f…ing pvp slider

What is there to slide analogously when it's a yes/no question?

If I understand the history:
Back in the old ages, when SC was to have dynamic instancing, the slider was going to be a factor in the matchmaking, possibly along players' "PVP score", it could prefer or avoid putting you in an instance with others if you'd prefer more "friendly" or NPC encounters.

Maybe think of it as a slider between Open and Solo, that gradually filters out more players from your world, maybe sorted by their bounties.

Like ELO system? I remember that in Fractured Space, it's a way to keep noobs from being fed to the tryhards. But when the pop is low you gotta open the flood gates to actually make a match. I feared that guy who played one ship like pro instrument. He was good. He was invisible. And you knew he was there. It was a more advanced ship to master (I never got it). In general I would play with the wolves, see what I maybe did wrong, use Discord to ask for advice and get better. But I had a sick obsession playing the "medic" ship anyway and everyone and their mother would prioritise me. In the end I had some tricks up my sleeve, like coming late to the gangbang party (some timed CTF event arena that gave substantial buff) when everybody was already aiming down sights at priority they picked. You get better by playing with people who are better. If you play PvP you don't need a slider - it's not yours to decide what you team up with, it's matchmaker's job.

Not only NPC… but it would work as Co-Op tool as well… according to our lord and savior the game would give priority to friends and NPCs so anyone looking for that privateer experience could have (only on certain systems of course)
