Spire Site now Inactive

Hyades Sector ST-Q B5-5
Recaptured form the goids this week , the spire site is now dead , not a revenant , banshee, scout or Orth in site..
Glory To Mankind !

Another sad case of over farming no doubt.
I thought destroying Thargoids at Spire sites would have an overall affect on system control and maybe weaken the Titans efforts somehow.
Not depleting the Spire site itself to be deserted so fast. Same thing happened with bases and outposts being taken back under our control.
Very weird game mechanic. All those fun battles we had back there gone forever. What's going to be left to do when we win this war?
It's all starting to feel overly scripted.

Wonder at how the Thargoids were even more alien than we thought and start thinking about who are the real enemies, those folk over there or the script writers?

I just hope when it's all over that they find a balanced way to keep Thargoids in the game and not totally eliminate them. That is if we win of course.
What a waste of work and assets that would be. Maybe have them surrender and agree to live peacefully next to us somewhere, while at the same
time keeping a healthy rebel/pirate faction of them around for us to play with. I don't know. It would be nice if the game held out as long as possible.

This very much depends on which Spire site is attacked, and how much.

On the current balance, a Spire site can only be temporarily disabled (they could probably get it back!) if:
- it is one of the outer ten systems of that Maelstrom
- pretty much the entire organised AX player base goes for it

Given those conditions:
- all the spire sites at Cocijo, Indra, Oya and Thor are absolutely safe this week
- the spire sites at Leigong, Raijin and Hadad are safe this week; most of them are also absolutely safe, the rest aren't actually going to be lost because there simply isn't enough firepower to do so
- the remaining spire site at Taranis might potentially be recaptured this week, along with all of Taranis' remaining systems

But really, after a year, "what happens if a Titan runs out of systems?" is one of the few big unanswered questions. If it turns out the answer is really boring, there'll still be seven left and unlikely to be much impetus to reduce that number further - not least because for various reasons Taranis is one of the weakest Titans.

Interestingly, the scripting at the moment is in favour of making it take longer to win the war. There have been two substantial reductions in effectiveness of spire-related actions: they clearly don't want to risk the Thargoids getting wiped out before Christmas (it was never really a possibility). As a result, this also means that attacking spires is actually pretty much pointless except in very narrow circumstances - if your aim is to weaken other systems, almost everywhere except Taranis it's far more efficient to do so (and much easier to target!) by attacking the systems you want weakened.

But then, this gets back to the question of what the war is for:
- if the strategic layer doesn't matter, or is actually a liability in terms of meaning that particular types of scenarios can be prevented entirely, then probably they should have just had the Thargoids attack the Pleiades and other nebulae instead - permanent spire sites, rotating fights over the stations, no progress bars, you just go there to fight Thargoids because that's what happens
- if the strategic layer is intended to matter, then it should allow for "pretty much everyone piles into a single system" to be at least a locally winning strategy (with costs elsewhere, which this week will have in terms of other things not done!)

Why I get depressed at people calling for more narrative in the game.

Very nice, in-depth point of view Thank you.

Enjoy your victories while they last... humans.
"it is coming"

Personally, i can't see them removing all the stuff they've added since they've pushed this narrative, but what currently exists could change.and evolve into something new.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

With congratulations, may I interest you in venturing just a few space-miles along to HIP 25654 in the Taranis region? Spires are indeed very strong now and most will be around for quite a while, but it would be absolutely lovely if this one in particular is torn down as fast as possible!

Much strategy, planning and time from many Commanders has been invested into this attack, and the successive Spire strength increases are threatening the final push this week unless more are able to rally and attack HIP 25654!

@Rat Catcher
I imagine the thargoids could well be the catalyst that may fully split humanity if their invasion becomes an existential crisis.
Humanity is already divided on such matters as things stand.
If nothing shakes up the status quo, it will just revert back to the humdrum day to day existence where nothing really interesting happens.

Just my thoughts on it.

And keep the air support going. I am trying to collect alien goo down on the ground and having to run back to hop in the ship to shoot the odd scout and medusa cuts in to that.

Thank you for your cooperation.

My presumption is that at some point, we'll get areas like Cone Sector and such unlocked, where there will be literally thousands of systems under Thargoid control, with spire sites, titans and the rest all over the place which will be much harder to take down, if not impossible in some cases, once human space gets cleared.
