Enrichment Updates + New Enrichment ideas

Enrichment is one of the main let downs of recent DLCs since they don’t have any anymore, which is a shame cause there’s so many possibilities left, not only for new enrichment but for animals to use existing enrichment.

This isn’t a meta wishlist or anything, just wanna start a conversation and maybe frontier will see it.

What enrichment items do you want in the game? Or what animals should be able to use a specific enrichment piece(s) already in the game?

Yes!! I loved the new enrichment items the older DLCs got, besides animals it was my favourite part of the DLCs. Really sad that Frontier is not adding them anymore.

There are many things I would love to see.

  • Slides for otters, penguins and sea lions.
  • Fall leaves pile that animals can jump to and play in.
  • Salt lick for the ungulates.
  • Sleeping faux tree that arboreal animals can sleep on, jaguars, binturongs, leopards…
  • Heated Rock for all kind of animals to sleep/chill on.
  • Reskined chew toy to appear like a natural branch/log for the dogs to carry around.
  • Sentry post for meerkats

Just a few ideas, there can be many more.

I LOVE the heated rock idea for big cats and reptiles! I'd also like to see more scratching options (both claw-scratching and itchy-neck-rubbing-scratching) and a salt lick. Sentry post is also really cute as well as reskins of the zebra pinata to be more appropriate in different biomes.

Giant sand pile

I'd say various sand piles of different size. Everyone can use them for digging around but they'd mostly be for the elephants.
Not only for digging/enrichment foraging, but adult elephants, especially seniors, also prefer to sleep on an incline so it's easier to get up

I would love to see some sort of heated enrichment item for reptiles - maybe not heated rocks as they aren't the best for reptiles (they don't necessarily react to heat the same way that we do and have been known to severely burn their bellies) but maybe some sort of rock or bedding material the animal can lay on with a suspended heat bulb above would be awesome.
I would like some smaller scratching posts for the small cat species and agree with the person who said they wanted more variety of scratching trees.
I'd also like some swinging enrichments for apes - maybe a tyre suspended from a tree or something. Elephants could probably use this as well.

Yes, those are fantastic ideas!! Each one sounds great! :D
I also agree that a new texture for the pinata (deer for example) would be nice. Zebras and pronghorns don't always look like natural prey for some species.

Here are a few additional (quick) ideas, inspired mainly by enrichment items for domestic animals but I'm sure wild animals could enjoy them too
Mirrors- I could see it used by different species, starting with apes. But why not also for carnivores and ungulates? I have seen mirrors being used as enrichment for domestic horses
Ribbon Gate - we have leaves gates, but a colorful alternative could be fun, too.
Giant Soft Ball for ungulates (like 150cm in diameter) - again, horse world inspiration. Some horses love this and it's hilarious to see them playing with such a ball
Sniff matt or lick matt as a food enrichment for carnivores
A pool filled with small balls - could be used by so many animals (similar idea to a pile of leaves)
