"Instant gratification", after 11 years.

i would so much rather buy a connie andromeda vs the drake corsair.

insane that the corsair is 3.4 million vs the connies 3.5 million.

but cant turn down that extra fire power. 😭

As ever with SC - lots of dreams.txt, needs more shipping.exe

I doubt you could talk to a single dev anywhere in gaming that doesn't have a list at least that long of all the stuff they want to do if they get time...

Edit: And I don't think there is a problem with devs having dreams - but when they're seen externally as some kind of checklist of what will happen it's not going to end well.

Is that a leak? that is an actual CIG employee posting publicly, correct?
If it is convenient it will be declared a leak. In any case it's just based on one dev and they can easily dismiss it as a singular opinion of a person with limited insight into the whole.
If you want to see how professional active CM is run I can recommend looking at Digital Extremes (Warframe), especially how Reb Ford ran it together with the team. She was so good, she was promoted to Creative Director. Point is: DE's CM was always the complete opposite of rando voices in rando channels found by rando people.

Yes. I dont particularly appreciate any CIG dev engaging in non confirmed, non official, dream crafting that leads to unwarranted hype and related funding with zero guarantees, to be honest. Serious companies would most likely not allow their employees to do that in the first place.

But I guess this is CIG. Their leadership has burnt out so much of their credibility over the years that I would not be surprised if they had taken an explicit decision to ask lower rank devs to pass across these « leaks » instead.

Guys, I'm not sure Turbulent are riding to the rescue...

Some of the worst tools in the industry, horrible management, bad values and general incompetence

Pros

-In my position I had some creative liberties. If I had a good idea, I was allowed to pursue it. Some of MTL's best additions were ideas that the team had outside of mandates. -It's a very open production and it's all live. Being able to interact with players, have feedback, etc. is great and it's not something you usually have in the industry. -I love my coworkers and the MTL team as a whole is great. -You have a lot of time on your hands because the tools crash constantly. Yes this comment is a little bit sarcastic. -My insurance is good.

Cons

-My fellow coworkers and I are constantly shocked by the level of incompetence that resides in CIG. -The management is incredibly bad and so are the core values. -There's so much resources wasted, while there's little to give to employees. We see CIG break records with their shady business model and they management tells us there's no money for us or new hires that we really need. -The tools are among the worst if not the worst of the industry. It's very very difficult to get any work done and there's no support from other teams when needed. Most in house tools that take years to develop to "help us produce better content faster" end up being deprecated because they actually made the whole process much worse. -Very little of us believe in anything CIG says or does and it pains us to see players believe so much and get lied to constantly. Plus, we get the same kind of lies internally as well. -It's just so frustrating to work on such an incredibly bad game. Plus, the quality of anything you deliver does not matter that much because in the end the core systems are so incredibly buggy and will overshadow any actual good content.

Advice to Management

Selling the MTL studio to CIG was received very poorly internally and it seems to most people that everything got a lot worse as soon as it happened. If ever one day you can be independent again, do it. You had a chance with this studio as it was full of talent, but I do think a big part of that left already and the rest will do the same eventually. As for CIG as a whole, a massive cleanup needs to happen. Take a big step back. Every step forward with incredible server issues, horrible tools, insanely bad AI, poor performance, etc. just adds oil to the fire. I know it's too late and it would take years, but it has to be done. Maybe after the S42 integrations it will get better, but I will believe it when I see it. For now it has been years of broken messes. Oh yeah most of all, please PLEASE have directors play the game. And properly review content. Directors should be hands on and see for themselves that it's a not fun buggy mess.

Maybe QA will fix it?

I seem to recall someone like Jared saying "Unless it comes from Chris it isn't official"
