Eurasia Animal Pack Hot Takes

Not sure if this is a hot take, but after this pack, no more European animals.

Hard agree. Well, aside from the Walrus for me, which isn't strictly a European animal anyways. Now that we're getting the Wild Boar, Wisent, and Wolverine, the last few holes in the European roster have been filled. If Frontier never came back to this continent again, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

No matter how much anyone tries to deny it, it IS one of the most unique and recognisable ungulates on earth. It is so distinct looking from any other antelope I can think of. That in itself gives it appeal.
I guess that depends on your point of view, but in terms of in-game functionality it's nothing special. The obsession over its nose is weird since overall, as I said, that's about the same level of uniqueness that exists between, say, the sable antelope and gemsbok (both of which also survived the Pleistocene...go figure).
If Frontier never came back to this continent again, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
I think I'd be okay with the muskox, and if they ever added the EBB or a true Eurasian wolf I'd be happy.

I want more European animals but I will say that it does finally have good representation, took long enough. With all that now South America is the only continent left which I wouldn't say is well represented and it needs one heck of an expansion. We need at the very minimum two monkeys, the coati, some Patagonian animals... And probably a good chunk more.

Not to derail the thread but here's my region coverage wishes for 2024:

1. South America-first and foremost obviously) no need to explain
|
| (Some space to emphasize the nessecity 😂)
|
2. Tropical Africa/Madagascar-primates/reptiles mainly tbh
3. Oceania- TREE KANGAROO
4. East, South, and Central Asia- monkey, muntjac, blackbuck, markhor...
5. North America- elk, maybe an otter

no more European animals.
Not even this adorable rabbit?

I still think there are still many good european animals which would make fine additions. An eurasian otter (although not strictly european), a european duck, a white stork, a mediterranean pelican, the western capercaillie, maybe a pheasant or heron, a marmot, a squirrel, a rabbit/hare, a mouflon, a chamois, a mink or marten, a wildcat, the common genet (although it's also african)...

But yeah, I also agree that for now it's not the priority. Frontier should focus on South America and on the few remaining gaps in Asia (one or two deers, an Indian monkey, the blackbuck, maybe the nilgai too, the hamadryas monkey for the middle east, an Asian pheasant would be the minimum) to finally have a complete game - then, if there is still support, come back for the few remaining holes in North America (the ABB, the sea otter, the musk ox), Europe, Africa (we need more african monkeys and birds especially) and Oceania (tree roo, more kangaroos).

1. The wisent is a horrible choice in this pack:
- 4 ungulates are too much, and it is the least original one
- It would have been great for an anniversary, but it is very boring clone pick for a DLC.
- It shouldn't be the flag species of the pack, the wolverine would fit so much better

2. There is a lack of small animals in this pack:
One of the ungulates (yes we see you the wisent) should have been replaced by a rodent (European hedgehog, European hare or arctic hare, alpine marmot, insert any interesting rodents) or mustelid (yellow throated or pine marten, mink, Siberian weasel).

3. The saiga should have been a nilgai or blackbuck.

4. Despite this, this pack roster is my favorite of 2023. Takin, swan, wolverine and boar are cool, hopefully the bear will look great and have cute animations.

What about the walrus, musk ox, yellow-throated marten, chamois, alpine marmot, highland cattle, shetland pony, and European hare?
Not exclusively European
Not European
Domestic

Only the marmot and chamois are exclusively European (considering Caucasus as Europe is also debatable). They would have been nice swap with the wisent though.
Domestic animals would be in their own pack.

Yeah, kind of agree. I’m the first person to clamour for European representation but this has kind of fulfilled it. The only animals I can say we should have from Europe are:

European Wild Cat
• Ones that share range with North America. E.g. Walrus and Muskox
• The Eurasian Brown Bear and Eurasian Wolf, though I won’t expect either in a DLC - only for free content. And if they renamed the Timber Wolf to ‘Grey Wolf’, that’d do me fine - the current in game wolf IS supposed to be that anyway.
• Domestic species of course. Scottish Highland Cattle, a Domestic Rabbit and Shetland Pony are some that immediately come to mind.

The swan saves this pack from being SEA and Arid kind of disappointing to me
Isn't this pack pretty directly equivalent of Arid? 4 hoofstock from the same region, 1 highly requested carnivoran, 1 new unique rig (swan/porcupine), 1 big animal from an unrelated region (rhino/sloth bear).
