Eurasia Animal Pack Hot Takes

I really don't care for realism, I play games to escape the boring realistic world we live in.
I hope we get shoebill and leopard seals just to turn realism lover mad. (and I really love both species, among my favorite animals in the world.)
Also, I hope for the Marine iguana, Golden snub-nosed monkey and the Ethiopian wolf, which are also rare or non-exist in Zoos.

Not really a fan of the Sloth Bear being included in this, but I don't hate them or anything. I'll manage. I just wish it had been the Muskox, Eurasian Otter or Eurasian Brown Bear instead.

I dont get the ethiopian wolf
Its literally a red jackal, why not wish for an actual jackal?
Both golden and blackbacked would have much more functional use due to their larger ranges and wouldnt rightfully annoy the realism crowd for the sake of including a bad animal pick from a zoo game 20 years ago

REMEMBER: BE RESPECTFUL!!!!!!!!!

I get that it hasn’t come out yet, but what are some of your Eurasia Animal Pack hot takes? Here are some of mine:
  • I never got into the hype behind the saiga antelope. I might’ve preferred the Persian onager as one of our obligatory ungulates.
  • I would’ve preferred something like the blackbuck or the yak over the wisent.
  • This one is my fault rather than Frontier’s: When I listened to the livestream, I got my hopes up for a Central Asia Animal Pack. I was hoping for a lion-tailed macaque.
now this is a hot take the persian ongaer over the saiga thats a new one and I definitely dont agree with you there
No idea why an animal suddenly has to be present in europe and asia to be in an eurasian animal pack tho.
The kiwi isnt native to every part of oceania either and not a single soul seemed to mind that
The problem is when people say eurasia they are referring to 2 different political continents intersection oceania is just a political continent. The animals did not need to cover all of eurasia just cover bits of both parts of the combination because it is a combination. I could get over the takin but the turtle and sloth bear are full endemic to europe and asia plus are far from the border and in different climatic regions to the rest of the animal making them stand out as odd additions.

All the animals are techinally from eurasia but to be in a pack with eurasia theming they need to embody eurasia not be endemic symbols their continents.
In one hand I understand the "Swans are not zoo animals" argument, in a sense that:

1. They're not exotic enought to be kept in zoos

2. That no zoo have dedicated habitats for Swans

On the other hand however, I don't think I've ever been to a zoo that didn't have Swans. Not in separate habitat, to be clear, but had them nonetheless. I mean, one could say then that Peacock isn't a zoo animal also.

And we need those animals as well if we want to make realistic zoos no?
I have never seen a swam in my life they do fill the same niche as peafowl of free roaming animals in a zoo but peafowl are more common I believe and do occasionally have purpose built areas for them unlike swans which usually just inhabitat ponds not necessarily built for them in particular. They are an important part of zoos and im glad they were added even if they never truly will feel like zoo animals.
Why do people think Eurasia means the animals have to live in BOTH Europe and Asia??? To me Eurasia means animals from Europe, Asia, or both. I don't get why people are upset that they included the Takin because it doesn't live in Europe. That seems so weirdly arbitrary.
its the fact that eurasia implies a connection to the 2 continents so adding 3 clearly regionally endemic animals felt weird for them them they are techinally eurasian but there were better choices for that theme
Isn't this pack pretty directly equivalent of Arid? 4 hoofstock from the same region, 1 highly requested carnivoran, 1 new unique rig (swan/porcupine), 1 big animal from an unrelated region (rhino/sloth bear).
Yeah it is but people are happy because its a different region that they have a bias towards. This pack ranks slightly above arid for me for a couple of reason 1 the swam is so much more unique then the porcupine and the fact that there is a birds and 2 other non ungulate mammals.
From my perspective, I think frontiers plan is to give us some of what we want and some we don’t with each pack. With this pack not only do we get a whole new chapter opened up with the waterfowl, but we also got a couple wanted ones like Takin and Wolverine, and others not so wanted like Saiga and Wisent.

The last pack would include a lot of wanted ones and would act as the finisher to satisfy everyone at once.
I find theis pack had a good balance on what people wanted everyone agrees on the swam being the best but noone can agree on the rest of the roster you have people who hate or love every single other animal for varying reason which I think is perfect because people will get the pack for the one they like and the most targets it can hit the more people will get the pack.
I don’t care if an animal isn’t captivity as long as it’s interesting and different from animals we already have.
This I couldnt care less about an animals status in captivity as long as there is no proof that captivity kills or severely hurts the animal and thats why its not in zoos then I would like to see them these animals make the packs stand out and feel unique.

its literally just nostalgia but getting a red jackel from the mountains would be nice.
I would place it more in like the same niche as the saiga something interesting and unique that is rare or non existent in captivity. These sorts of animals are in my opinion needed in the game every now and then (around 1 per pack) as just something to make the game feel unique and less mundane because it is a game after all they can take some liberties with realism. Now do I think the ethiopan wolf is essential not at all would I like yes I would. I would like it as a roster filler to appeal to the opposite of the realism players those who want the rare and unqiue.

Look you all do you but they literally look like a poor mans maned wolf while also being outcompeted by jackals in everything else.
If the animal is both unique in niche and looks like the saiga i honestly dont care that much, but when you can replace them with a similar animal thats more unique and actually held in zoos yeah no

I wouldnt even call it the visually most appealing of the three, that title goes to the black backed and it aint close

yeah the ethiopian wolf isnt that visually distinct and I agree the black backed is better in that department I was more talking about the fact that its from african highlands making it unique but point taken.
