Save Won't load

The support team just sent me an email saying this:
We have been noticing some of these cases have some commonalities within them, and we are investigating these as a priority. It may be in a future update, we fix this and get things working again, so you can load into this park with ease.

I know this isn't a certainly and I do not dare to get my hopes up that my zoo can be saved. But it is some sort of comfort to know they are looking into it.

It is odd that you can't load you zoo through from a backup save. Maybe it is the update itself? But, usually that works. Did you experience anything when the game crashed? For example a blue screen or your device shutting off?

I guess all we can do is wait for the next up date like Captain Callum said.
The typical crash report screen is what I am getting. Glad to hear they have responded to you and I will keep my fingers crossed for us both! 🤞
 
Same problem here, after playing yesterday where one of the tings i did was building a sovenirshop the save just crashes on loading, an older save still works fine. Sounds good that there might be hope for the non working save, and must say i darent realy play PZ for now

Edit , found a bugreport in progress https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/62634 added to that incl my broken save

I got the crash screen too but after a blue screen happened while playing the game (after I built a souvenir shop) but I'm hoping that those two are unrelated.

Yeah, I'll see what happens. But, as I said before if my zoo can't be saved I'll rebuild it (this is plan B as I don't want to think about losing 6 months of work even if it is kinda my own fault for not having back up saves)

But, like you said I don't dare to build anything right now with these crashes just in case I loose that as well

Hope we can have a patch or something before christmas, i sent a ticket now aswell as i saw the issue has been closed

I doubt we will have anything by Christmas (it is only next week after all), so it'll probably be patched in early or middle of January.

The ticket I did was closed because they aware of the problem are working to fix it and they said once this new update is out I should be able to go back into my zoo.

But I'm glad you did a ticket too. It'll be good to let them know that a large handful of the community is having this problem. Don't be surprised if they say that they are already aware of this problem and are working on it and close your ticket too, though
 
Support also told me that I can always continue a already built zoo or start a new one while I wait (but don't add the gift shop). But, I personally don't want to do that so I'll just wait.
 
Yeah i just got the feedback from them that they suspect it is due to a issue they work on, no eta for fix, and that it is unsure wheter the save will work even after fix; they suspect it is corrupted.

im not keeping my fingers crossed either, the drawback with releases so close to holidays,

Probably, they offered to look at the save so i shared it, i do got a working out from my backup so i havent lost so much buildingtime but sent it if it can help them with the issue stating that. Also maybe they can find a pattern the more people that report.

As one is not sure it is the giftshops causing im also hesitant to use older saves / start a new park , and the one from my current park has a giftshop in it in the save that does load, so probably a real danger to corrupt again am afraid

I thought so. All we can do is wait and see I guess. I know for me they said my zoo file shouldn't be Corrupted but I'm still not going to get my hopes up just in case it is.

I'm glad that you kept a back up save though. That's the main thing I'm angry at myself for. I'm usually so good at doing it.

The root cause of the crash is indeed related to the souvenir shop.

A fix is currently being worked on by our development team and we will release the fix with the next game update. We are currently finalising a few things internally so we cannot provide a definitive ETA but please rest assured that we'll resolve the underlying issue as soon as we can.

In the meantime, we can only recommend that you start a new park without using the souvenir shop or load an existing save without it.

It behoves me to stop a moment and thank Frontier and support for beeing so candid with a response and details here given from support, mostly one gets mumbo jumbo answers but i must say im very impresed by Frontier support on beeing so forthcomming and confirming the issue in this way, and also for their speedy response !
 
Wow, the Planet Zoo social media post was asking who's created gift shops - maybe they're indirectly asking if there's issues, but it is more "hey look at this cool new feature". I realize that not everyone's affected, but knowing there's a significant amount of issues I'm a little stunned they are promoting the feature.

I would not be surprised if that post was scheduled long before the issue was acknowledged. I do not want to really go into details here due to respect for people affected, but our community team just got slimmer of 3 people...This post should get a pass at the current time I think.

That's an understandable point. I typically think Frontier does great with their social media, now that we've come to realize approximate patterns of release and don't take a "non DLC/update announcement" as attempting to ignore or troll us. FWIW, my one zoo I have a gift shop in loads just fine, but I'm not going to invite potential problems into my other zoos by adding more gift shops before the issue is believed resolved.

That's the same email I got too and I fully agree with you. Frontier and the support team as a whole have been amazing with dealing with this problem with me too. The responses I got were quick, polite and not afraid to admit what the cause was and tell me that they are fixing it.

I know how you feel. For some of the community the gift shops have caused huge issues. So for me, it felt like they were putting salt in a wound. But, I like to think that post was made in an effort to see how many other people were having issues with the feature.

What you're saying is a possibility. One I honestly didn't think of. Not only that some lucky few aren't experiencing any faults so why not show off just an amazing new and game changing feature? (Even if it has caused faults with so many people's save files)
 
Yeay the patch that came today works and my broken save could load aswell! Awesome , huge thanks again Frontier,
(It took a while to load the save but i expect it is due to some magic fixing it :) )
My save worked as well, I couldn't be happier 😀 (if the monitors of the website want to remove this thread due to the fix then please feel free)

Anyway, huge thanks to the development team they did an amazing job and I honestly didn't expect the fix so soon.
