Yeah, I was confused too. I don't think they would last to long in a rainforestguys i'm no expert on takin biomes but isn't tropical a bit too much? isnt it like giving red panda tropical biome?
i cringed a little bit when i saw this in zoopedia
Well, they are kept in tropical zoos (at least in Myanmar) and seem to do fine with the temperatures, I do agree it's a bit much to categorise them as tropical.Yeah, I was confused too. I don't think they would last to long in a rainforest![]()
FYI, I'm Burmese and I can say it's in northern Myanmar where the takins are kept as far as I know because of the cooler climate there. Otherwise they're almost void in the southern parts where I use to live.Well, they are kept in tropical zoos (at least in Myanmar) and seem to do fine with the temperatures, I do agree it's a bit much to categorise them as tropical.
They've definitely been kept in Yangon Zoo (not sure if they're still there), and I remember reading they're in Naypyidaw Zoo (not sure this counts as north or south, as it seems central).FYI, I'm Burmese and I can say it's in northern Myanmar where the takins are kept as far as I know because of the cooler climate there. PS: I said almost because if memory serves at least one of the zoos in central Myanmar kept takins.
PPS: perhaps Frontiers could rewrite as northern Myanmar and take out the tropical biome for feasibility
I can agree to that yes. Temperate is the warmest they can stay IMO.In either case, I still think they should not be listed as tropical, as their natural habitat isn't tropical at all.

zoos are somewhat controlled environments, even open air enclosuresThey've definitely been kept in Yangon Zoo (not sure if they're still there), and I remember reading they're in Naypyidaw Zoo (not sure this counts as north or south, as it seems central).

bhutan is actually one of the coldest countries in the regionI just realised that Bhutan is subtropical by climate, plus the foothills of northern Myanmar has a similar climate. I guess that's why it's also considered Tropical too.
